📧 E-invoicing… it's coming!

If you've heard accountants talking about e-invoicing and thought "I'll worry about that later"… well, later is getting closer! 😂

The government has announced that mandatory e-invoicing for VAT invoices is planned from 2029.

The idea is that invoices will be exchanged directly between financial systems rather than simply being sent as PDFs or Word documents.

There are plenty of potential benefits — less manual data entry, fewer errors, faster processing and potentially quicker payments.

But, as you'd expect, there are also concerns around costs, software, training and making sure different systems can actually talk to each other.

The government is planning further work with businesses and software providers before the 2029 mandate comes into effect.

So no, we're not telling you to panic and change your software tomorrow! 😂

But it is definitely something businesses will need to keep an eye on.

💚 World Mental Health Day – 10th October

Today is World Mental Health Day, and it's a good reminder that looking after yourself isn't something that should only happen when things get too much.

Work can be busy. Life can be busy. Sometimes the two together can feel like a LOT.

So today, check in with yourself — and maybe check in with someone else too.

Send the message. Make the phone call. Go for the walk. Have the coffee. Take the break.

And if someone says they're struggling, sometimes you don't need the perfect thing to say. Just listening can mean a lot.

Let's make looking after our mental health something we talk about all year round, not just on one day. 💚

📢 VAT’s the problem 📢

One of our clients recently shared the VAT’s the Problem petition with us, and we were more than happy to sign it.

We see the impact that rising costs and tax pressures are having on businesses, especially those in hospitality. Pubs, restaurants, cafés, hotels and leisure businesses are working hard to keep going and keep their doors open.

The campaign is calling for hospitality VAT to be reduced to 10%, helping to support local businesses, jobs and our high streets. 🍽️🍻☕️

We’ve signed the petition, and if you’re a business owner, work in hospitality or want to support your local pub, restaurant or coffee shop, you can sign it too.

Who doesn’t love a good curry, great company and a chance to catch up with some fantastic local businesses? 🌶️🍛

Another month means another Curry Club — hosted by The Best of Northwest and North West Networking — and this time we headed to The Jewel in the Crown in Bury!

As always, it was an evening full of delicious food, plenty of networking and lots of laughs. 🙌

And of course, Baz Jackson came along for support… although getting him to pose for a photo was impossible! 😂 He was far too busy chatting away to the waiter!

It’s not just about the curry (although that’s definitely a big part of it!) — it’s about bringing people together, making connections and enjoying a great evening with like-minded business owners.
