Don’t forget to tune in to BBC South Today at 6.30pm this evening for Part 2 of their special feature with our incredible Retrieval Team.

The programme follows the dedicated clinicians from the Southampton Oxford Retrieval Team as they travel across the South in ambulances fully funded by Friends of PICU Charity. These specialist vehicles enable Dr Griksaitis and his team to deliver lifesaving care and expert support to critically ill and injured children when every second counts.

We’re also proud that Trustee, Verity, joined BBC Radio Solent on the airwaves this morning to highlight just how vital our support is; enabling the team to reach young patients, delivering specialist care, wherever the children are across the South of England.

The programme follows PICU's incredible clinicians from the Southampton Oxford Retrieval Team as they travel across the South, in ambulances fully funded by Friends of PICU Charity, delivering lifesaving care and specialist support to critically ill and injured children when it’s needed most.

We’re also proud that Friends of PICU Trustee, Verity, will be joining the news team in the studio to highlight the vital role Friends of PICU plays in making this service possible – funding the retrieval ambulances as well as essential onboard equipment that help bring expert, specialist care directly to young patients.

💔Breaking up with bad financial habits can set you up for a better future. Here’s some habits to start changing:

🚫Not sticking to a budget… or not even having one! A budget will help you plan your spending on regular expenses, including your saving or other needs/goals. Break the habit by finding a budgeting plan that is realistic and works for you. Keep track by using a spreadsheet, notebook, or online banking app.

💀Neglecting your savings – saving might not be your priority right now, and that’s okay, but the longer you leave it, the less time you have for your money to grow. Break the habit by contributing little and often. Set up an automatic transfer if you need to!

😖Putting off things that are more complex to you – The UK has a complicated tax system, so it’s okay not to understand all of it. But try to understand taxes that apply to you so that your money works more tax-efficiently. Consider speaking to a financial adviser to guide you through this.

🛣️Not having a financial plan based on your goals – it’s good to have direction, and even better to have a route to get there. Work out what your goals are, when you want to achieve them by, and how much money that will take. Then build a plan, bespoke to you and your circumstances, to get there.
