With self assessment season in full swing, scammers are on the hunt for targets. If you get any emails, texts, or calls claiming to be from HMRC, don't rush: check before you click!

Watch out for:

• Messages demanding urgent payment or threatening fines
• Requests for personal or banking info
• Poor spelling and odd sender addresses

HMRC will NEVER ask for sensitive details over text or call. Stay sharp, keep your details safe, and if in doubt, reach out to the official channels.

Identity verification will be a legal requirement for all directors and people with significant control (PSC) from 18 November 2025. It will help make sure the people running companies are who they say they are.
