The end of the financial year can put more pressure on your business than you expect.
There might be tax to plan for.
Or simply a quieter period coming up that you need enough cash to get through comfortably.
And this is where having a cash buffer matters.
Because if every pound in your business is already committed, one unexpected cost can quickly turn into a problem.
A buffer gives you breathing room.
It means you’re not making decisions based purely on what’s sitting in the bank today.
You have money set aside for the things you know might happen, and some room for the things you don’t.
For directors, this is especially important because cash in the business isn't automatically spare cash.
Some of it already has a job.
The goal isn't to build an enormous pile of money that never gets used.
It's to have enough of a buffer that an unexpected bill doesn't immediately create stress.
The strongest businesses don't just plan for what they expect to happen.
They leave room for what they don't.
