Welcome back to another Friday Night Takeaway 🍕
While things are quieter you may be looking at where to upgrade in the gym. That’s where the equipment debate comes in - lease or buy?
Buying is a bigger cost up front, but means you have no monthly payments going forward (unless you borrow of course).
Leasing means a lower upfront payment, and you’re committed to payments each month.
“Let’s buy brand new machines with cash so we own them free and clear” is not a bad idea. But that ties up a huge chunk of working capital in depreciating assets (they lose value over time). The working capital could be used for marketing, staff retention or expansion - and if you lease equipment you could do it all.
What do you think, would you lease or buy new equipment?
