We Are Recruiting!

We are currently looking for an experienced bookkeeper to join our friendly team here at Butt Miller. Preferably AAT qualified, but definitely someone with experience who can hit the ground running. Generally our staff join us and stay, and we are looking for someone to do just that. It is a full time role, but we would consider a job share. Please see below for more information. If you, or someone you know is interested, please send your CV and covering letter to [email protected].

We look forward to hearing from you!

The 1.25% National Insurance increase has been well publicised ahead of it taking effect from April. Whilst it represents only a modest increase in deductions for most employees, their employer is also hit by the charge as the employer NI increases by the same amount, making the total increase 2.5% on employment income.

Making Tax Digital (MTD) is here for all...

Since April 2019, VAT-registered businesses with a turnover above the VAT threshold (currently £85,000) needed to keep VAT records digitally and send returns using MTD compatible software.

From April 2022, these requirements will apply to all VAT-registered businesses, including those with a turnover below the VAT threshold.

Tax is probably the last thing on anyone’s mind when picking out a present on Valentine’s Day, but if you are making more than a small gesture, there may be a sting in the tail.

Gifts to spouses are generally tax free, however a gift to A. N. Other that requires you to dip into savings is potentially caught by Inheritance tax.

Office romances could increase potential tax implications further, as taxes related to employment may come into the equation...

Earlier this month HMRC announced penalties for filing the 2021 Tax Returns will be waived if you miss the 31 January deadline but the Return is with them by 28 February. Whilst you won’t pay a fine for sending the Tax Return in late, you will still incur interest on any tax owed after 31 January.

Payment Plans
For those whose businesses were hit by the pandemic and various lockdowns and therefore can no longer afford to pay their tax bill, HMRC are offering help in the form of payment plans so that you can negotiate monthly payments to clear any tax becoming due this month. You can apply for the plan either through your Government Gateway account or by calling 0300 200 3822

We’re so excited to be part of Camberley’s Halloween Haunt! 🧙‍♀️🕸🎃

14 pumpkins have been hidden around the town centre’s businesses. All you have to do is look for the spooky image on the pumpkin, match it to the image on the help sheet and fill out the name of the business where you found it.

You can pick up a sheet from The Square, The Atrium or print it out at home using the link below:
