Every year we support a charity and share the details with clients, contacts, family and friends, to hopefully shine a little spotlight on them.

This year we are shining the light a little closer to home.

Georgy – a client’s son – was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer at the age of 8, and at 15 is still battling this awful disease. His strength at such a young age is quite simply astounding.

Without funding from Bone Cancer Research Trust, new advances in medicine would not be possible. Treatment has moved on since Georgy was diagnosed meaning more people are now being cured. Therefore this year we have chosen to support the Bone Cancer Research Trust.

Every 10 minutes a child, teenager or adult is diagnosed with this brutal disease and they face odds of 50% of surviving 5 years.

Bone Cancer Research Trust is the only charity dedicated to this disease, and 100% of their funding comes from private donations.

A friend of the family is running the London Marathon in support of Bone Cancer Research Trust, and as you may know a minimum donation of £2,500 is required to be able to undertake this challenge. Please join us, if you can, in helping her get there – the link to donate is below.

Thank you and we hope you all have a Merry Christmas 🎄

I am running the 2025 TCS London Marathon to raise money for Bone Cancer Research Trust. Please support me today! Every 10 minutes somewhere another child, teenager or adult is diagnosed with this bru

Is it time to change Accountants 🤔🤔

Some of the top reasons for deciding you are ready for a change:

😵‍💫 They don’t understand your business or what you do
💰 You never know how much you’ll be charged
🤦‍♂️ They use jargon that you don’t understand
💻 They’re not upto date with legislation and lack technical knowledge
📞 They don’t answer your calls or emails
👉 They’re reactive rather than proactive
📈 Your business has grown and they’re no longer the right fit
📅 Work isn’t completed on a timely basis
😩 They’ve made mistakes or provided poor advice

Rishi Sunak paid more than £1m in UK tax over the last three years, details of the prime minister's financial affairs show.

He paid £325,826 in capital gains tax and £120,604 in UK income tax on a total of £1.9m in the last tax year alone.

Of that £1.9m, £156,163 came from his parliamentary salary, £173,398 from investment and savings income and about £1.6m from capital gains - profit made on the sale of assets.

It makes interesting reading….

On 15 March 2023 the Chancellor of the Exchequer delivered his Spring Budget.

The UK will now not enter a technical recession this year, say independent forecasters the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR). Inflation will more than halve and reduce to 2.9% by the end of the year, the OBR expects.

Here is a summary of the most important announcements:

⬆ The main corporation tax rate will increase from 19% to 25% as expected from 1 April 2023.

📆 The super-deduction regime will end 31 March 2023, and will be replaced from 1 April 2023 with ‘full expensing’ - 100% capital allowances for qualifying plant and machinery.

💰 The amount that an individual can contribute tax free to their pension fund is to be raised from £40,000 to £60,000 per annum from April 2023.

❌ The lifetime allowance - the total amount workers can accumulate in their pension savings before paying extra tax - has been abolished.

⭐ From 1 April 2023, a higher rate of relief for loss-making R&D intensive SMEs will be introduced.
