We were proud to once again be one of the main sponsors of Race4Business that took place on Wednesday 1 July in Chelmsford.

Nine Rickard Luckin team members took part in the 5K race, while a further three volunteered as marshals, joining around 500 runners from businesses across Essex to support Havens Hospices.

Before the race began, participants heard a moving story from a mother whose family had received support from the charity, highlighting the vital difference Havens Hospices makes to local families facing incredibly difficult circumstances.

Each year, Race4Business raises thousands of pounds to help Havens Hospices continue its mission of 'Making Every Day Count' for babies, children, young people and adults living with incurable conditions.

A huge thank you to everyone who represented Rickard Luckin on the evening. We're proud to support such an important local cause and be part of another fantastic community event.

On Sunday, Team Rickard Luckin took part in the First Intuition Charity Cup at Billericay Town FC, supporting the fantastic work of Leadership Through Sports and Business.

Despite not progressing beyond the group stages, the team put in a strong performance against tough opposition, holding the eventual tournament winners to a 0–0 draw while also facing the runners-up along the way.

The real highlight of the day was coming together as a team, building stronger connections, enjoying time outside the workplace, and helping raise funds for an amazing cause.

Taking the time to strengthen relationships within our team and across the wider business community is a big part of what makes Rickard Luckin such a great place to work.

A big thank you to First Intuition for organising such a fantastic event, and well done to everyone who represented RL.

Yesterday evening, Rickard Luckin and Whirledge & Nott were pleased to host the Annual Farming Families Update at The Lion House in Boreham.

Now in its 14th year, the event continues to support farming families in navigating emerging challenges, with this year’s focus on exploring opportunities in a new era for the sector.

Christa Humphreys shared valuable insights on succession planning, while James Boustead outlined key tax considerations when assessing diversification and development opportunities. From Whirledge & Nott, Grace Gardiner explored ways to make land work harder by balancing farming, environmental and energy priorities, and Michael Hughes provided an update on development in the context of an ever-changing political landscape. Caroline Dowding of Knights also delivered guidance on protecting intergenerational farms.

Despite ongoing challenges in the sector, the seminar highlighted a range of practical opportunities and considerations, and it was fantastic to see such strong engagement throughout the evening.

Thank you to everyone who attended – we hope you found the session both informative and valuable.

We were delighted to host our first RL Corporate Golf Day at The Heron Country Club on Thursday 14 May, welcoming nine teams for a great day of golf, networking and good spirits.

Despite a mix of sunshine, wind, rain and even hail, the atmosphere stayed positive throughout. Guests enjoyed bacon rolls on arrival, followed by 18 holes on the Heron-Hawk course and a classic golfer’s lunch to round off the day.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a success.

We were delighted to attend the Essex Young Farmers Show at Boyton Hall last Sunday.

Our Agriculture Team was out in force, welcoming visitors to our marquee where we enjoyed catching up with clients, contacts, and fellow professionals over refreshments.

With a packed programme of entertainment, the event once again showcased the very best of the region’s farming community.

As long-standing supporters of the agricultural sector, we are proud to be part of such an important event in the farming calendar and to continue supporting the people at the heart of it.

Supporting great causes through football

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Rickard Luckin, taking part in two fantastic charity football events at Southend United Football Club’s Roots Hall Stadium, all in aid of brilliant causes.

On Saturday 9 May, we entered a team into the World Cup-on-Sea 7-a-side tournament, joining 31 other local businesses to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

Our team delivered an excellent performance, winning all three group games, before progressing to the quarter-finals after a hard-fought 1–0 win in the round of 16. Despite a narrow 2–1 defeat at the quarter-final stage, it was a brilliant team effort and a great day all round.

Thanks to incredible support and fundraising efforts, we raised an impressive £1,204 for the British Heart Foundation.

We were also proud to once again sponsor Play on the Pitch on Thursday 14 May, where Ali Hussain and Reece Dabbs represented Rickard Luckin as part of a Southend business professionals team taking on Barclays UK, raising funds for Havens Hospices.

In a high-energy match packed with goals, Barclays edged a 5–3 win, but the real success was the fantastic atmosphere and the coming together of the local business community for such an important cause. The event is expected to raise close to £50,000.

A huge well done to everyone involved in both events, from players and organisers to supporters and donors. We’re proud to be part of such a generous and community-driven network.

We’re delighted to have been recognised as a founding recipient of the Basildon Business Leaders Local Impact Award.

We’re incredibly proud of our reputation as a people-focused business and of the role we play in supporting the communities where we live and work. This new award shines a spotlight on organisations that are making a genuine difference across the borough - supporting local people, strengthening communities, and contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive economy.

Across Basildon, Billericay, Wickford, Laindon and Pitsea, many businesses are doing outstanding work, often behind the scenes. This initiative helps bring that impact to the forefront and celebrate those contributions.
