It is with great sadness that we share the news that Charles Hunt, founder and former Managing Partner of Blue Spire, has passed away.

Charles started Hunt & Partners, the business that eventually became Blue Spire, and his influence will always be part of who we are today.

Charles was a larger-than-life character, full of personality and someone who certainly left his mark on the people he met. He was a friend to many and, most importantly, the much-loved Dad of our Director, Katie.

Many of our longer-standing clients will have known Charles personally, and we know there will be many people across the local community who will remember him with great fondness.

Our thoughts and love are with Katie and all of Charles’s family at this incredibly sad time. 🤍

Still pinching ourselves after being named Employer of the Year at the Chichester and Bognor Business Awards on Friday evening. 🏆

What an incredible night and one we’ll remember for a long time.

While the award has our name on it, it’s really a reflection of the amazing people who make Blue Spire what it is. We genuinely have an incredible team. A team that works hard, supports each other, celebrates successes together and somehow manages to make accountancy a lot of fun along the way.

To have that recognised in this way means so much to us, and we’re still a little bit blown away by it all.

A huge thank you to Chichester Chamber for putting on such a fantastic evening, and to Lodge Court - Experts in HR Support, sponsors of the Employer of the Year award. We’re incredibly grateful for your support and for recognising the importance of creating great places to work.

Charles isn’t only a big part of our history. He is also our Director Katie’s Dad, and someone whose influence continues to be felt deeply across the business today. 💙

For Katie, accounting wasn’t just about a career choice, it was shaped by growing up with a Dad who was anything but your stereotypical Accountant. Loud, funny, straight talking and fiercely loyal, Charles helped build the foundations of the business and the values that still matter to us now. ✨

Since Charles’ diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease in 2024, Tangmere has provided extraordinary care, compassion and support to Charles and his family through an incredibly difficult journey.

It’s hard to put into words what that support has meant.

So, in honour of Charles, and with heartfelt thanks to Sage House - Blue Spire will donate £10 for every new client we welcome.

A small way of giving back to a charity doing incredible work for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and the families who support them ❤️
