🗓️🚨👷🏼🚜 JUST 3 DAYS TO GO 💰 🚨👷🏼

We all wish it was as easy as ChatGPT has pictured it below!

With the opening of tax return season under three weeks away, now is the time to start compiling your figures in anticipation of submitting your self assessment tax return for the year ended 5th April 2026 🧾📊

If you are submitting your self assessment yourself, you are likely missing out on thousands of pounds of allowable business expenses. These missed opportunities can not only eliminate any tax liability - But in most cases trigger a larger tax rebate compared to going alone 💷

🚨💷Limited Company Directors don’t miss this before 6th April 👇💷🚨

If you haven’t already, you can still take advantage of trivial benefits before the end of the tax year.

Here’s how it works:
💎 You can take up to £300 per tax year (6 April to 5 April) - that’s up to 6 x £50 vouchers
💎 Each benefit must cost £50 or less
💎 It isn’t cash or a cash voucher
💎 It isn’t a bonus or part of your pay

You can receive up to £300 per tax year if you’re the director of a ‘close’ company.

A close company is a limited company run by 5 or fewer shareholders.

What does this actually mean?

Your company can buy you vouchers (Amazon, supermarkets, JD Sports, Flannels, Zara, etc.) and it’s tax free.

As long as each one is £50 or under, you can take multiple throughout the year up to a maximum of £300.

If you haven’t used this yet, there’s still time before 6th April.

If you’re unsure how this works or want to make sure you’re doing it correctly, just drop me a message.

🚨🚨🚨 Warning for deadlines!! 🚨🚨🚨

From April HMRC is replacing the £100 late filing penalty.
In its place, a new penalty points system is being introduced as part of Making Tax Digital.

Under the new system:

• Each missed filing deadline = 1 penalty point
• 2 points triggers a £200 penalty for annual Self Assessment returns
• 4 points triggers a £200 penalty for Making Tax Digital taxpayers
• Further missed deadlines can lead to additional £200 penalties

HMRC is also changing late payment penalties, including:

• Penalties starting 15 days after the payment deadline
• Additional penalties after 30 days
• Daily penalties if tax remains unpaid

The idea is to make the system fairer for occasional mistakes, but repeated missed deadlines could still lead to significant penalties.

For many self-employed individuals and landlords, these changes will become relevant over the next few years as Making Tax Digital is rolled out.

📢 Big changes are coming for UK landlords!
From 1 April 2026, Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax will start to roll out — and it’s going to transform how landlords manage and report their finances.

💡 If you’re a landlord earning over £50,000 annually from property (and/or self-employment), you’ll need to:
✅ Keep digital records
✅ Use compatible software
✅ Submit quarterly updates to HMRC
✅ File a final declaration each year

This isn’t just a compliance exercise — it’s an opportunity to:
📊 Get real-time insight into your property income
📉 Reduce errors and last-minute stress
⏱️ Save time with smarter, automated processes
⚠️ But waiting until the deadline could leave you scrambling. The transition to digital systems takes planning, the right tools, and a shift in habits.

👉 Now is the time to:
• Review your current record-keeping
• Speak to your accountant or advisor
• Explore MTD-compatible software
• Start getting comfortable with digital reporting

Landlords who prepare early will be in the strongest position — not just to stay compliant, but to run more efficient and profitable property businesses.

Really positive news following the latest Youth Guarantee Scheme announcement from HM Revenue & Customs 🙌

It’s always encouraging to see initiatives designed to support young people into employment, training, and long-term careers — especially at a time when many businesses are looking for fresh talent and extra support.

The challenge with schemes like this is that the details can feel overwhelming, and many people miss out simply because they’re unsure where to start.

That’s where I can help.

As an experienced adviser, I work with businesses, parents, and young people to break things down clearly and make sure opportunities like this are actually put to good use — whether that’s understanding eligibility, accessing funding, or planning the next steps.

If you’re wondering how the Youth Guarantee Scheme could benefit you or someone you know, feel free to get in touch. Happy to have a chat and point you in the right direction.

Opportunities are only valuable if we use them ✨

🚧 Construction companies take note… this is important.

From April, HM Revenue and Customs will have the power to remove Gross Payment Status (GPS) without warning, moving subcontractors from gross payment to net payment with a 20% deduction under the Construction Industry Scheme.

For many construction businesses, Gross Payment Status is critical. Larger contractors often choose who they work with based on payment status, and losing GPS could put future contracts and cashflow under pressure.

GPS can be removed if businesses fall behind with their obligations to HMRC, including
📌 Late or unpaid VAT, PAYE or Corporation Tax
📌 Late filing of CIS Returns
📌 Late RTI submissions

Even one missed or late submission could put your status at risk.

We can help construction companies stay ahead through clear cashflow planning and proactive support, making sure tax liabilities are met and filing deadlines aren’t missed so your Gross Payment Status stays protected.

If you’re in construction and want to make sure your business is fully prepared for the upcoming changes, now is the time to review your finances. 📊
