🗓️ 5 October – Self Assessment registration deadline for those who need to register for 2025/26

🗓️ 7 October – VAT return & payment deadline for relevant VAT periods ending 31 August 2026

🗓️ 22 October – PAYE, NIC & CIS electronic payment deadline

1. Relevant Life Insurance 🛡️
A company-paid life policy can be particularly useful for directors.

2. Professional subscriptions & memberships 📚
If it's relevant to the business/profession, the company may be able to cover qualifying subscriptions.

3. Training & CPD 🎓
Business-related training and development can often be an allowable expense.

4. Eye tests & VDU glasses 👓
Something many people don't realise a business may be able to provide where the conditions are met.

5. Trivial benefits 🎁
Up to £300 a year for directors of close companies, provided the individual benefits meet the rules. - can you create a visual for this

💭 DO YOU NEED TO REGISTER FOR SELF ASSESSMENT?

During the 2025/26 tax year, did you:

💼 Receive more than £1,000 gross from self-employment?
🏠 Start receiving rental/property income?
💰 Receive dividends or savings interest that may need reporting?
📈 Have other untaxed income or a change in circumstances that could mean you need to file a tax return?

If you're answering yes to any of these, it could be time to check whether you need to register with HMRC.

It’s official — CS Accountants has a new home.

After six months of working from home and building the business, I’m so pleased to finally be opening the doors to my new office in town.

A space to meet clients, have proper conversations, and continue growing CS Accountants.

I’m incredibly proud of how far the business has come already, and I’m really excited for what’s ahead.

A huge thank you to all my clients — new and old — for your continued support. It truly means the world.

From 1 September, I will be moving into a new office in Dolgellau — a welcoming space for clients and a space that feels like home for the practice.

I recently attended an excellent ACCA webinar exploring both the strengths of AI and the issues we need to be aware of.

It was a great reminder that AI is a powerful tool — but the answer it gives isn't automatically the right answer.
