How can you start saving for your child's financial future?

As a parent, once you have planned for the day to day costs of welcoming a child into the world and your immediate financial requirements, thoughts often go to the future.

Whilst you may initially think of making savings in your own name to gift to them later down the line, there are certain gifting allowances and rules to adhere to in order to avoid making costly Inheritance Tax mistakes.

Furthermore, there may be added benefits for your child’s financial literacy and tax position by separating your savings from theirs.

Chartered Financial Planner, Coreena Dutton, discusses further in our latest article.

Why are trusts making a comeback?

With pensions set to become part of an individual’s estate for Inheritance Tax calculations from April 2027, this means up to 40% could be lost to IHT.

Whilst the Nil Rate Band offers an Inheritance Tax free allowance of £325,000, this has been frozen since 2009 despite rising asset values, such as family homes, pushing more people above this limit. As a result, more families are finding themselves exposed to IHT, often without having considered it before.

Now, trusts seem to be making a comeback as many more families consider the implications on their own estate planning.

South East based Chartered Financial Planner, Esther Clemmey APFS, discusses the recent rise in the use of trusts in our latest article.

Why are pension annuities on the rise?

Planning your retirement income strategy is one of the most important decisions you will make in your lifetime. When it comes to taking an income from capital held within your pensions, you have a number of options: flexible access drawdown; or an annuity purchase.

Pension drawdown remains the most popular option among retirees, according to FCA data. In 2024/25, sales of drawdown policies were 349,992 compared to sales of annuities of 88,430.

However, recent market forces and regulatory changes have arguably made pension annuities more attractive and should perhaps warrant further consideration from more individuals nearing and in retirement.

High Wycombe-based Independent Financial Adviser, Douglas Sims, explains in our latest article.

“Houston, Integrity, comms check…
It’s so great to hear from Earth again."

As the Artemis II crew head for home after travelling further from Earth than any humans ever have, they suggested naming a newly spotted lunar crater Integrity, after their Orion spacecraft.

Personally, we think it’s a stellar choice - a name that reflects trust, teamwork and the courage to go further than anyone before.

At Integrity365, we may not be orbiting the moon, but we do believe in going further for our clients, and making the complex world of financial planning a bit more down to earth.

One of the crew say they have seen "sights that no human has ever seen" after travelling beyond the far side of the Moon.
