Thank you to David Thompson and the North East Network /Team Valley Group team for a lovely morning at the launch of their monthly Durham networking event.

The team got together for lunch yesterday to send Danielle off in style

Seven years at Valued, and what a seven years it's been. 💙

Month after month, she kept our clients' payroll running smoothly.

Back during Covid, when everyone was worried and nothing felt certain, Danielle just quietly got the work done, going above and beyond to make sure every client still felt taken care of.

We won't forget that.

But anyone who's worked with Danielle knows she's about so much more than the job. Her humour. Her warmth. The way she checks in on people because she actually means it.

Seven years flies by, but what she's left behind won't fade.

Thank you for everything, Danielle.

120 minutes of hard work. One kick decided it.

A few of the World Cup favourites are out this week, not outplayed, just on the wrong side of a fine margin. A penalty here, a save there.

It's a good reminder that outcomes often turn on small moments, not big ones. The margins are thin, in football, and in business too.

That's why the quiet, unglamorous stuff matters. The numbers checked early. The plan made before you need it. Not because anything's wrong, just because it means you're ready, whatever moment comes along.

Nothing dramatic. Just prepared.

Here's hoping England have done their quiet work already in preparation for tonight.

A bit of Thursday Clarity needed...

Most business owners we speak to aren't struggling because they're doing the wrong things.

They're stuck in the gap: The gap between where they are now and where they want to be. Between what they think they need and what they actually need.

Sometimes that gap looks like "I just need to get my tax return done." When actually, what would change everything is finally understanding what their numbers are telling them.

That's the bridge we help clients get across at Valued.

Not just the compliance work but the conversations, the clarity, and the forward-thinking that gets you from one side to the other.

If you've been feeling like your business is running you rather than the other way around, we'd love to help bridge that gap.

A lovely morning spent with North East Network at their fantastic Pop Along Networking Event in Newcastle. 2 beautiful venues, Dobson & Parnell and The Sandhill Arms, with the back drop of glorious sunshine on the Quayside.

Great to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones. Its always great to hear about the successes of the businesses here in the North East.

Thank you to David and the TVG team for the event.

Now back to the office to cool down.

How's your week been...

We've been out and about, seeing clients, partners and attending events.

Stephen and Claire were at . Lots of big ideas, great speakers, brilliant energy.

But the message that stuck the most was also the simplest.

In a world where you can be anything... be more you.

Stop competing. Stop overthinking. Stop waiting until it looks polished enough.

Just show up. Real. Honest. You.

In business, in life, never lose sight of who you are.

Happy Friday. Have a brilliant weekend.

Companies House made an announcement today and I'll be honest, part of it is a relief.

The plan was that small companies were going to have to file full profit and loss accounts. And those accounts were going to be public.

Let that sink in for a second.

Every line of your accounts, there for anyone to look at. Your customers. Your suppliers. Your competitors. Your team. All of them able to see your turnover, your margins, your wage bill.
I've spoken to so many business owners about this and the worry was always the same. It's not that they have anything to hide. It's that running a business is hard enough without your supplier checking your margins before a price chat, or your team doing the maths on the wage bill.

Today that changed. Small companies will still file profit and loss accounts with Companies House from April 2028, but you'll be able to opt out of it being published on the public register.
And here's the important bit. Companies House, HMRC and law enforcement will still see everything. So the accountability is all still there. The only thing that changes is that your private numbers aren't on display to the world. In my opinion that's exactly the right balance.

It's a choice too. If publishing your numbers helps your business, for example with access to finance, you can still do that. That's a conversation worth having, not a box ticking exercise.

The rest of the changes are still coming. Everything filed through software, no more abridged accounts. But it's all been pushed back to April 2028, so there's time and there's no panic needed.
If you're a Valued client, we're already on it and we'll walk you through your options when the full guidance is out. You might also get an email directly from Companies House next week. It's genuine and you don't need to do anything with it.

Any questions, you know where we are.

Thursday Throwback — 14 Years in Two Photos

The first photo, Xerocon2012, Stephen was nervous. Really nervous.

The second photo, Accountex26 last month and a very different feeling.

What changed? Not the passion. Not the purpose. Just the proof that every time you say yes to the scary thing, it gets a little less scary.

Stephen has spent 15 years building Valued around one belief: that business is about human beings first and numbers second. He's shared that message from stages across the country and this year, for the first time, he walked on without the nerves that used to follow him.

That's what growth looks like. Not overnight. Not loudly. Just one stage at a time.

Here's to the journey.
