Unfortunately, these aren't always fictional horrors.

A little planning, decent record keeping and knowing what's coming up can make some of the more frightening parts of running a business a lot less scary.

Nearly 150 years here, and we still think it's a pretty special place to be. 💚

Happy Lincolnshire Day!

We've seen plenty of changes over the years, but some things never go out of fashion. Like knowing your local business community, supporting good causes and being part of the place you call home.

From the businesses we work with to the community events and charities we're proud to support, Lincolnshire has always been a big part of our story.

100 years of experience deserves a little celebration. 💚

Today is Gratitude Day, and we have four very good reasons to celebrate.

This year, Jackie, Ruth and Katie have each reached 25 years with Dexter & Sharpe, while Sarah will reach the same milestone in December.

🎉 Jackie – 23 June
🎉 Ruth – 2 July
🎉 Katie – 30 July
🎉 Sarah – 3 December

That's 100 years with Dexter & Sharpe between them.

Twenty-five years is a huge milestone, and over that time they've seen plenty of changes - in accountancy, in technology, in the way we work and in the businesses we support.

They've supported clients, helped colleagues, adapted to new ways of working and each made their own contribution to the firm.

And after 25 years, we think that's worth saying thank you for. ❤️

🚴‍♀️ The Tour of Britain is coming through Lincolnshir! 🚴‍♂️

With our Louth office right along the route, we couldn’t resist getting involved!

We’ve teamed up with Louth Cycle Centre to give the office a little two-wheeled makeover and show our support as the riders make their way through the town. 🚲

It’s fantastic to see an event like this bringing so much excitement to the local area, and even better to be able to join forces with another local business.

So, if you’re out watching the action, keep an eye out for us! 👀

How did your first MTD quarterly update go? 👀

If you got yours submitted by 7 August, that's one down and four to go.

If you didn't... don't panic. 😊

There are no penalties for late quarterly updates during the 2026/27 tax year, but you still need to send your update to HMRC.

HMRC will also start sending reminder letters from October to anyone who missed the first deadline.

So if MTD is still sitting on your to-do list, now might be a good time to get to grips with it before the next deadline rolls around.

We don't know what's going to be announced yet.

Wednesday 28 October.

And that doesn't mean we're sitting around waiting. 😉

Our team is already getting organised behind the scenes for our annual Budget Seminars, where we'll help clients understand the key announcements and what they could mean in practice.

We're putting the plans together now and will be sharing more information over the coming weeks.

"Isn't accounting just... maths?" 🤔

It's a question (or something very similar!) we've heard quite a few times over the last couple of weeks.

Between welcoming work experience students into our offices and attending local careers events, we've had some fantastic conversations with young people about careers and what working in accountancy is really like.

The first things that often came to mind were:
📊 Maths
💷 Money
📑 Tax
😴 Boring

But the conversations quickly moved beyond that.

We talked about career opportunities, AI, progression, holidays, salaries and what a typical day actually looks like.

The best part?

Seeing so many young people asking thoughtful questions and being genuinely curious about the different career paths available to them.

Whether they choose accountancy or something completely different, we hope they've come away with a better understanding of the opportunities open to them.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped to chat with us, and to the students who spent time with our teams over the last few weeks. 💚

The sunshine is finally here. ☀️

Business doesn't always get the chance to slow down.

While many people are enjoying the warmer weather, business owners are often busy managing customers, supporting their teams and planning what's next.

Hopefully...
..there's still time to enjoy a cold drink, a bit of sunshine and a well-earned break too. 🍹
