This September, a team of 11 employees from Frame Kennedy Accountants will be lacing up their running shoes to take part in the Baxter's 10K Corporate Challenge — all in support of The Oxygen Works.

The Oxygen Works is a fantastic independent, local charity based in Inverness that provides vital therapies, support, and rehabilitation services for people with a range of health conditions, helping improve both quality of life and wellbeing for so many in our community in the Highlands. Their work makes a real difference, and we are proud to be raising funds to support everything they do.
As a team, we’re challenging ourselves to complete the 10K — whether we’re seasoned runners or taking on something completely new! Every mile we run is for a great cause, and every donation, big or small, will help The Oxygen Works continue their incredible work.

Monday Money Tip 💡

Friendly reminder — if you're on Self Assessment, the second Payment on Account is due 31 July. This is the second of two advance payments toward your current year's tax bill, and it catches a lot of people out. If you're not sure what you owe or whether it applies to you, get in touch — there's still time to plan ahead.

If you're self-employed, you can claim the cost of training that improves skills you already use in your business. A bookkeeping course, a software qualification, an industry workshop — these can all count as a business expense. Just make sure it's building on what you already do, not starting something brand new.

If your business has recently VAT-registered, you may be able to reclaim VAT on certain purchases made before you even registered — up to 4 years back for goods you still have them, and 6 months for services. A lot of businesses don't realise this and miss out. It's worth checking what you've got receipts for.

Limited companies can save on Corporation Tax by making pension contributions directly through the business. Unlike taking a salary bonus, company pension contributions are usually a deductible business expense — so the business pays less tax and your future self benefits too. Worth a conversation with your accountant (and your financial advisor).💡
