Now that the dust is settling on this weeks Budget announcement, its clear that none of the big scare stories came true. Even the widely talked about removal of tax-free cash from pensions.......

What is clear though, is the direction of travel. Taxes are tightening for everyone!

For me, it reinforces how important it is to firstly, have a long-term plan and to make the most of the allowances we do have each year. Use them or lose them!

But, having a plan to begin with is key. True story!

I’m a cycling fanatic and love an analogy… so here goes! 🚴‍♂️

The Tour of Britain rolled through Suffolk this week. It reminded me how much a rider depends on the team car. Inside are the people who’ve studied the route, discussed tactics, and are in constant contact to help the rider negotiate what’s ahead.

And if a mechanical threatens to stop them in their tracks, the team car is right there to get them moving again.

That’s how I see my role as a financial planner.

I’m not in the race with you, but I am in the team car!

✔ On hand when setbacks or “mechanicals” appear, to get you moving again

And just as the team car looks ahead, so do we. This week also marked the final race of Geraint Thomas’s incredible career. A decision not made in the moment, but carefully discussed, planned, and prepared — already looking to what comes next.

Because whether it’s stepping away from a pro peloton or a business you’ve built, the real measure of success isn’t just the race you’re in now — it’s how well you’ve prepared for the next stage of life.

Warning: I’m a cycling 🚴🏻‍♂️ nut…

I was lucky enough to catch the start of today’s Tour of Britain 🇬🇧 1st stage and grabbed this photo of Geraint Thomas in the final race of his outstanding career.

What struck me most is that, he’s planned his transition - he knows what’s next and can step into it with confidence.

That’s exactly what financial planning is about. Retirement (or any big life change) isn’t just about the finish line - it’s about knowing what the next chapter looks like and enjoying the journey.

Be like Geraint, look ahead, make decisions and put plans in place to live life on YOUR terms!

28 Years in the making!

Hi everyone 👋

I’ve spent the last 28 years working as a financial adviser, helping families and business owners with everything from pensions and investments to estate planning and protection.

Along the way, I’ve learned something important: advice on its own can help, but it doesn’t always deliver the very best outcomes. The clients who’ve made the most progress are the ones where we’ve taken a full, holistic planning approach.
