The team is raising awareness and funds for Young Lives vs Cancer and Move Against Cancer while sharing an inspiring story of resilience and determination.

After a very busy June period, we are back with our staff introductions!

It’s time for one of our longest standing members, and our face of conveyancing, Clare Murray.

Clare joined us back in early 2015 and is definitely one of the most hard-working people we know. Clare is dedicated to helping her clients buy and sell their homes and works tirelessly to ensure each matter continues as smoothly as possible. Clare is both friendly and communicative, and her client reviews reflect this.
Clare is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and is continuing her studies towards Chartered status.

Outside work, Clare and her husband enjoy a busy life keeping up with their three lively young boys. In her spare time, she enjoys walking on Dartmoor with her family, reading, and listening to music🎶

You guessed it…Clare’s 5-question insight:

What was your dream job as a kid?

Probably working in childcare, which I did for several years before beginning to study law and starting at SWLaw 👩🏼‍🎓

What is your go to karaoke song?

I guess it would have to be some 90s cheesy pop- maybe something by the Spice Girls or Steps! 💃

What is your favourite thing about job?

Getting to help people, sometimes at a very stressful or emotional time in their lives- there’s nothing better than getting to completion day on the purchase of a client’s dream home! 🏠

What does your typical weekend look like?

It would involve at least one of my sons having a football match (though preferably not too far from home and not in the rain!) A dog walk with the family and maybe a meal at a pub. Having days out with my children and family and maybe having some time to myself to read!

What is your superpower in the office?

On more than one occasion I’ve been called a ‘swan’ by colleagues- looking serene on the surface and keeping calm under pressure, while working tirelessly to keep things moving 🦸🏼‍♀️- Clare you are the definition of calm!

Despite the rain, we had a fantastic day at the Point-to-Point last Saturday! 🌧️🐎

It was wonderful to catch up with so many of our valued clients and friends throughout the day. A special mention to Rob and Lauren, who had the honour of presenting the award for the first race. Congratulations to all the winners.

A big thank you to everyone involved for yet another fantastic weekend at the Flete races—we can’t wait to see you all again next year!

The weather may have been wet, but it certainly didn’t dampen the spirit—an all-round great day.

It’s time for an update! Over the last year we’ve had some big changes, and it only feels right to now update our social media in line with those changes. Over the next few weeks, we would like to introduce our lovely team, one by one, so that you can learn a little more about SWLaw and Finance!

One of the best and most unique things about us is that we are a dual practice, offering both legal and financial services. The founder of all that, and first up, is Eric Cowsill, our Managing Director, who also happens to hold the rare distinction of being qualified as both a Solicitor and a Financial Adviser ⚖️

As a general practitioner, not only is Eric able to offer support in various aspects of the law, but with over 30 years’ experience in both disciplines, he can offer a unique perspective in his approach to client service. This has fuelled his determination to develop and grow a business concept which provides clients with very high-quality and long-term legal and financial advice.

Away from work, Eric takes full advantage of Dartmoor, the South Devon coastline, and the countryside in between. He has always enjoyed being outdoors, on the water (sailing/kayaking) or in the mountains (walking / skiing). He enjoys walking with Digby & Bella (Snr & Jnr Border Collies). You may see him out cycling or playing (badly) the occasional round of golf. Eric also has a keen interest in photography 📸

What was your dream job as a kid?

Train driver, Astronomer, then Doctor (I was too squeamish so decided to help people in other ways)

What does your perfect weekend look like?

Time spent outdoors, sunshine, mountains, rivers, the sea – with my Collies 🐾

What is your dream holiday destination?

Antarctic Peninsula 🐧

If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be?

Aristotle (for a good Mezze) or Isaac Newton (for apple crumble)

Nessun Dorma (yes, we had to look this one up to…)🎤
