The wider area being central to so many beaches and tourist attractions, including Folly Farm, Oakwood, Bluestone, Heatherton, Manor House (Anna's zoo) and many others. KBCC is continually aiming to improve the area. Task and Finish Groups are working on long term improvement plan for all the open space areas within its ownership. Begelly Kilgetty Community Association is continually working to maintain the delightful Community Garden nearby and there are many flower beds for residents and visitors to enjoy. Amber Weather warning for
Monday 1st December

Information provided by Pembrokeshire County Council

The Met office has issued an Amber warning and based on the most up to date forecasting are predicting low likelihood of high impacts.

Headline: Heavy rain is forecast for Wales on Monday, and may result in disruption.

Further Forecast Details:

An area of heavy rain is expected to move over south Wales between late Sunday and late Monday. Whilst rainfall amounts will vary, some heavy and persistent rainfall is likely to fall, especially over high ground. Rain should clear to the east Monday night.

20-40 mm of rain will fall extensively across the wider region, but 60-80 mm is expected to accumulate over some south and southwest-facing high ground in south Wales, with a few places perhaps seeing nearer 100-120 mm. In addition to the potential for flooding impacts, this increases the chance of landslides on both natural and infrastructure slopes.

Strong south to south westerly winds will also accompany the heavy rain, with gales possible around coasts and over high ground.

Our teams have been taking preventative action, however, with the extent of the rain that is expected to fall in short bursts onto already saturated grounds, it is likely that our communities will experience localised flooding, leading to potential widespread travel disruption.

For some context, Wales has already had 44% more rain than average (this figure does not yet cater for yesterday's rainfall).

NRW will continuing to monitor the situation and any changes will be posted on their social media for partners to share.

THE FUTURE OF YOUR COMMUNITY CENTRE

As you may be aware, the Co-op organisation have made the decision to sell a large area of land that includes the Kilgetty Community Centre, the carpark and the toilet block. This is of great concern for KBCC as we know how important the Community Centre is to our community, with so many of you using it on a daily basis.
This matter was discussed in detail at the last general meeting held on Thursday 10th July 2025. As a Community Council, we are wholeheartedly determined to do our best to retain the Community Centre and are putting forward our intentions to the agents who are responsible for the sale.
We would welcome hearing from anyone who uses the Community Centre and how it makes a difference in your life. We would be interested in stories/experiences of families and friends and how the centre has benefited them in the past.

On behalf of the Council

Press Release from Kilgetty - Begelly Community Council

Kilgetty Begelly Community Council plans for the Kilgetty Playground.
The Kilgetty Playground was closed last year in order for the play equipment to be removed as many of the items were no longer suitable for repair. The ground is now being levelled in preparation for new equipment to be installed. The old fence has been removed and a new fence is due to be erected very soon. The new fencing will be the same style as the one that surrounds the whole common.
The Council have decided to enlarge the area for the playground so that more equipment can be installed. Quotes are being sort from suppliers and recent quotes have suggested estimated costs up to £150,000. The Community Council do not have sufficient funds and so are seeking to apply for funding through various grant schemes including the 106 funds (paid to Pembrokeshire County Council by developers) that are available for the Kilgetty Begelly area. To achieve this KBCC have decided to phase the installation with phase one being this year. The hope is to achieve a play area for the community which will also reflect the area’s history of mining and links with the sea. It is envisaged that this will be achieved within 3-4 phases.
The diagrams indicate what is possible but actual equipment has yet to be decided on. In addition to the grant applications, funds have already been made available from donations and the selling of Folly Farm tickets and further fundraising is planned in the community with the Kilgetty Summer Fete taking place on Sunday 27th August and an event at the Begelly Arms on Saturday 2nd September.
The money from these two events will be added to the Kilgetty Playground funds this will help KBCC to purchase the initial equipment for the children to use.
If you have any suggestions or ideas on fund raising to help us achieve our vision sooner, please get in touch with our clerk by email: [email protected]
