From September 2026, HMRC will begin automatically signing taxpayers up to Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax (who meet the criteria) if they haven't already done so themselves.

Signing up yourself is much simpler than letting HMRC do it for you, it means you have full control over your details from the start, whereas if HMRC initiates the sign-up, making any amendments can be much more complicated and time-consuming.

The Autumn Budget 2026 is set to be delivered by Chancellor John Healey on Wednesday 28th October, his first Budget since taking on the role, and the first fiscal event under Andy Burnham's government.

While full details won't be confirmed until Budget day, early signals suggest a Budget with working people in mind.

We'll be following the announcements closely and will share a full breakdown once the details are confirmed.

Our work with Sunbeams Play is a great example of how specialist advice can create real, practical benefit for the organisations that need it most.
