Some Good News !!! 😀 From 6 April 2026, Child Benefit rates have increased in line with inflation (3.8%).

💷 New weekly rates:

£27.05 for your eldest or only child (up from £26.05)
£17.90 for each additional child (up from £17.25)

📈 This is roughly an extra:

£52 per year for your first child
£34 per year for each additional child

💡 Payments are usually made every 4 weeks and are paid automatically if you're already claiming.

⚠️ Reminder: If you or your partner earn over £60,000, you may be subject to the High Income Child Benefit Charge.

📢 Self Assessment season is officially OPEN!

As of 6th April, you can now submit your Self Assessment tax return for the new tax year — and there are some great reasons to get it done early 👇

No looming deadlines, no last-minute rush — just one less thing to think about for the rest of the year.

Find out straight away what you owe (or if you’re due a refund), giving you plenty of time to plan ahead.

If you need to submit a tax return for 2025/26, now is the time to start thinking about it.

Especially if you are:
• Self-employed
• CIS subcontractor

Most people leave it too late and either:

CIS Subcontractors – Tax Year Ending Soon (5 April)

If you're working under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), the tax year is almost over — which means your Self Assessment tax return will soon need submitting to HMRC.

Many subcontractors either:

• are due a refund because CIS deductions have been taken throughout the year.
