So I’ve been a bit MIA over socials the last few months, but with good reason!

2 weeks ago Shannon and I got married! After 11 years together we are now officially ✨Mr & Mrs Skidmore ✨

We had the best day with our nearest and dearest, and then ran away for a week to the Lakes 🧳

It’s been a whirlwind but here I am, back and married! And I couldn’t be happier 🥳

Reasons why you should opt out of your workplace pension 👇

You shouldn't.

By opting out of your workplace pension you would be:

✨ Reducing the amount of money you retire with ✨
Do you know how much the state pension is?
The full new state pension is £203.85 per week, could you live off of that as your only income?

✨You're literally missing out on free money!✨
Your employer is legally obliged to contribute the minimum of 3% of your salary towards your pension, some employers offer much more.

✨You'll pay more tax✨
Pension contributions are exempt from tax, you are taxed AFTER pension contribution (as well as student loan / NI etc.) Therefore if you aren't adding anything to your pension, that money you could be using towards our retirement is being taxed.

*in some rare circumstances it may be beneficial to opt out of your workplace pension. For all instances you should seek financial advice

It's that time of year again, the Spring Budget - but how does it effect you and your finances?

Let's break it down 👇

✨ The Lifetime Allowance
the total amount workers can accumulate in their pension savings before paying extra tax has been abolished.

✨ The pension annual allowance has been raised from £40k to £60k.
This is the maximum amount of money you can add to your pension pot every tax year.

✨ The Energy Price Guarantee (EPG)
which keeps the average household bill at £2,500 is now extended until the end of June by capping the unit price of electricity.

✨The Energy Rebate Scheme has not been extended and will end this month.

✨ "Pre-payment Premium"
energy charges for prepayment meters will be brought into line with prices for customers paying by direct debit.

Tax Year end - so what? 🤷‍♂️

Many think the tax year end doesn’t apply to them because they’re not self employed - WRONG.

The tax year gives you personal allowances, for things such as savings ISA’s and your pension.

Here’s some things you can benefit from:

✨ £20k ISA Allowance
✨ £40k Pension Allowance
✨ £12,750 Personal Tax
✨ £12,300 Capital Gains Allowance

If you haven’t reached your limit, you have until April 5th to do so.

Well worth the 7am wake up call on a Sunday 👏 ⚽️
