A day out of the home office and into the wild… 👩‍💻✌️

I've had such a good day at Accountex Summit Manchester today — learning, listening, wandering around software stands, collecting ideas and occasionally wondering whether I actually understand accountancy at all. 😂

Some genuinely brilliant talks though, particularly around the client experience, AML and the future of the profession.

Lots to take home, digest and think about for J P Accountancy Services.

And, perhaps most importantly, I did the whole thing on my own.
Travelled to Manchester, stayed by myself, walked into a massive event where I knew nobody, sat in talks, wandered around, spoke to people and actually really enjoyed myself. 🥹

Turns out leaving rural Wales and being a proper grown-up businesswoman for a couple of days is quite good fun.

Naturally, proceedings have now moved to the w**e stage. 🍷😂

Accountex North 2026 — done. 💜

The mandatory registration date of April 2026 applies to you if your Turnover/Sales/Revenue was £50k or more on your 2024/25 Self-Assessment.

This is not your Profit figure!

This is your Income figure, BEFORE deducting any expenses.

Don't leave it too late to Register, the 1st Quarterly submission is due by the 7th of August 2026!!

If you're confused about this or any other areas around MTD and Digital Record Keeping, sign up for my MTD! WTF? Self led course.

🚨 NEW COURSE ALERT 🚨

MTD! WTF?

Because if your reaction to Making Tax Digital has been "MTD... WTF?" then you're definitely not alone.

Over the past few months, I've been listening to the conversations happening online and speaking to business owners who are feeling confused, overwhelmed and worried about what MTD for Income Tax actually means for them.

The problem isn't that business owners can't understand it.

The problem is that most of the information available is full of jargon, technical language and assumptions that everyone already understands bookkeeping and accounting software.

So I've created the course I wish existed.

✅ What MTD actually is
✅ Who it applies to and when
✅ How digital bookkeeping works
✅ Choosing the right software
✅ Setting up your systems properly
✅ Creating a simple bookkeeping routine

All explained in plain English, without the accountant-speak.

🎥 40 minutes of self-paced video training
📚 Downloadable workbook
💻 Study Notes

Perfect for sole traders, landlords and small business owners

No jargon. No overwhelm. No panic.

Just practical guidance to help you understand what's changing and what you need to do next.

Comment "MTD" below and I'll send you the details, or visit the link to my website in my bio to learn more.
