Going on maternity leave? Your pension doesn’t simply stop.

One area that can cause confusion is what happens to pension contributions when maternity pay changes.

The key point: employee and employer contributions are treated differently.

As maternity pay reduces, an employee’s contribution may reduce too, while the employer will generally continue contributing based on the salary the employee would have received if they were still working.
