It's that we've made running their business less stressful.

Has the government actually done something to help business owners? 🤯
For once... yes.
The mileage allowance has increased, and it's worth checking because we see this missed every single year.
If you use your own car for business journeys, your company can reimburse you using HMRC's approved mileage rates.
That increase could mean an extra £1,000 deductible expense for someone driving 10,000 business miles a year - with no extra money spent.
The catch?
You only get it if you've kept a mileage log.
No log = no claim.
It's one of dozens of perfectly legitimate expenses that business owners miss simply because nobody told them.

"Don't worry... HMRC won't know. Just close the bank account within 12 months."

I genuinely had someone tell me they'd heard this from a mate in the pub.

I don't know who starts these rumours, but they need to stop. 😂

HMRC receives information from banks, employers, Companies House, investment providers, property transactions and much more.

Closing a bank account doesn't magically erase the data.

If your tax plan starts with "my mate Dave said...", it might be time for a second opinion.
