Today I sent Invoice 1000 📈

And it got me thinking about Invoice 0001.

I remember staring at that invoice before sending it and thinking:

"There's no way I can send this. The client will realise I've only just started."

At the time, getting to 10 invoices felt impossible.

In fact, it took us another 7 months before we were regularly sending more than 10 invoices in a month.

7 months of effort.
7 months of content.
7 months of trying things that didn't always work.

It's easy to see why people quit.

The interesting bit?

Of the first 1,000 invoices we've ever issued, 10% were issued in June 2026 alone.

100 invoices.
In 4 weeks.

The things that move the needle are rarely exciting.

It's showing up.
Doing the boring stuff.
Repeating what works.
Being consistent long enough for momentum to find you.

One day you're worried about sending Invoice 0001.

Then you look up and you're sending Invoice 1000.

Keep going 🐻

Most people think you'll know you're ready to quit your job when the numbers make sense.

In reality, it's usually much messier than that.

It starts when your job stops feeling like security and starts feeling like a distraction.

When you're spending your days solving problems you don't care about, while the thing you actually want to build gets whatever energy is left over.

You begin to realise that the biggest risk isn't leaving.

It's staying exactly where you are.

Nobody ever feels 100% ready.

At some point, growth demands a decision that safety can never justify.

Most people think financial freedom is having more money.

I'm not sure that's true.

I've met people with six-figure salaries who are terrified of losing their job.
And I've met business owners with far less who sleep perfectly well at night.

The difference isn't money.

It's dependence.

If every financial milestone just creates a bigger safety blanket and every pound saved only exists to calm your anxiety... then you're not really buying freedom.

You're buying reassurance.

Real financial freedom isn't having the biggest bank balance.

It's knowing that your decisions are driven by what you want, not what you're afraid of losing.

That's a very different game 🐻
