World Environment Day is an annual international day dedicated to encouraging awareness and action to protect the environment. It was started in 1973 and is celebrated in more than 150 countries. The day is used to raise awareness about environmental issues and to encourage governments, businesses and individuals to focus on areas such as plastic pollution and climate change. We’re trying to go totally paperless in the office as its important to us. What can you do today to support World Environment day?

The trick to chasing customer invoices is to make it routine and systematic, not something you only do when invoices are late. Here’s how to stay on top of your customer invoices.
Firstly, don’t wait until invoices are seriously overdue. Decide your schedule upfront:
• 3–5 days before due: friendly reminder
• 1–3 days after due: 1st overdue reminder
• 7–14 days late: another reminder message
• 30+ days: escalate to a call
Most accounting tools like Xero, QuickBooks, or FreeAgent can automate these reminders so you’re not manually tracking everything.

With the gradual rollout of Making Tax Digital, businesses with income over £50,000 are now required to keep digital records and file via compatible software, with most business having moved to cloud software like Xero, QuickBooks, or FreeAgent. If you’re self-employed or have untaxed income in the UK, setting money aside regularly helps avoid a nasty surprise when your Self-Assessment bill comes due. A common approach is to save somewhere between 20–30% of your income (sometimes more, depending on your bracket and whether you owe National Insurance as well).
Some practical ways people handle it:
• Move a percentage of income received into a separate savings account right away
• Use a dedicated “tax pot” so it’s not accidentally spent
• Review periodically so you’re not under- or over-saving

The new UK minimum wage rates came into effect on the 1st April 2026, following updates from HMRC and the government.
The new hourly rates are as follows;
• Age 21 and over (National Living Wage): £12.71
• Age 18–20: £10.85
• Age 16–17: £8.00
• Apprentice rate: £8.00
This means millions of workers will see a pay increase in this new tax year. Employers should make sure payroll systems are updated and that staff are being paid the correct minimum rate. Tax returns have changed – with a new way to record and report your income and expenses. Making Tax Digital for Income Tax was implemented on the 6th April. If your turnover is above £50,000 you should now be using recognised software to prepare for the new way of doing tax returns.
