Nobody really tells you how much is involved in buying your first home.
One minute you're just thinking about getting on the ladder, the next you're trying to get your head around mortgages, solicitors, surveys, offers, missives and chains - all at the same time, all while trying to just get on with normal life.
It can feel like everyone else knows what they're doing and you're the only one who doesn't. You're not, by the way. It feels that way for almost everyone we speak to when buying their first home.
The thing that makes the biggest difference early on is just understanding what you can realistically borrow and what that looks like as a monthly payment. Once you have that, everything else starts to make a lot more sense.
