How do you pay for liquidation if the company has no money?
It's one of the concerns we hear a lot from directors, but there are usually more options than people realise.
Company assets - The liquidator sells any equipment, stock, vehicles or property, and liquidation costs are paid from those funds first.
Director redundancy - If you were paid through PAYE, worked regular hours and meet the qualifying criteria, you may be able to claim statutory redundancy to help fund the process.
Instalments - In some circumstances, a licensed insolvency practitioner can agree to spread the fees over time.
If you continue to trade while insolvent and incur additional debt, it can lead to you being held personal liable for those losses.
