Attendance and Pastoral Support Officer

We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and organised School Attendance and Pastoral Officer to join a dynamic school in Tottenham. You will have responsibility for whole school attendance, punctuality and pastoral care and will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, challenge and motivate.

The purpose of the role is to support parents and pupils in improving pupils’ attendance at school, through proactive monitoring and intervention. Improving the attendance of persistently absent pupils will be a priority. This role will also be instrumental in addressing the needs of pupils who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning.
Primarily, the role will involve engaging with parents and pupils through telephone discussions, meetings in school and occasional home visits. The role will involve close liaison with the Education Welfare Team and SLT.

The role would suit somebody who is passionate about the importance of education as the foundation for a successful future and the part excellent attendance plays in that; someone who is motivated and determined to secure the best outcomes for pupils. Successful candidates must be able to work flexibly, to prioritise their workload and to use their initiative. Emotional resilience, empathy, and the ability to hold sensitive, challenging conversations are important to the role.
