Singletree Accountants

Singletree Accountants Situated in Enfield, London, Singletree Accountants provides accountancy and tax services to clients And those lemons are difficult to turn into cash?

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade… what happens if your business gives you lemons? That’s often when my clients call me in. Like many accountants, I can give you the peace of mind that all your tax and accounting compliance affairs are taken care of. That’s a given. Why do so many of my clients stay with me? They come to me as someone who has had their fair share of knocks but has come bac

k swinging each time. I’m known as a good listener and happy to be more of a business partner than someone who just crunches the numbers. Our clients tend to be:

• In hospitality or early in their business growth
• Based in London or the northern home counties
• Needing to make informed business decisions, particularly around cash flow and growing their business

You could say that resilience is my middle name. I moved to the UK from Turkey as a refugee in 2004 and started my life over again. My wife and I have two beautiful children, but both have challenging health conditions. Sadly, I lost family members in the large earthquakes in Turkey in 2023. Why do I tell you this? It demonstrates that even when you get knocked down in business terms, you can get up again; whether these knocks are spiralling costs from increased rent, food or fuel costs, or staffing woes. Given the many hats I wear in my life - from supporting my family here and in Turkey and my clients, I know what it is like to juggle. To want to be there and provide for your family, but also put the hard yards in to grow your business. I don’t promise to have all the answers. But what I can guarantee is that I am the advisor who will listen and understand. Then work with you to put in place plans and solutions to help you get back up again to confidently grow your business. To get in touch [email protected]

🚨 Self Assessment Reminder

If you make payments on account, your second payment is due by 31 July.

Do not leave it too late. Missing the deadline can lead to:

✅ HMRC interest
✅ Penalties
✅ Cash flow pressure
✅ Unnecessary stress

Check your HMRC online account now and make sure you know whether a payment is due.

If your income has reduced, you may be able to reduce your payments on account — but it must be done carefully.

Tax Advice From Social Media? Be Careful Before You Act.

Social media is full of quick “tax tips”, “loopholes” and financial advice from so-called finfluencers.

Some advice may look helpful, especially when it promises to reduce tax or increase refunds. But if the advice is wrong, misleading or not suitable for your circumstances, you remain responsible.

HMRC can still charge the tax, interest and penalties — even if you followed advice you saw online.

Before acting on any tax advice, always ask:

✅ Is this person qualified?
✅ Does this advice apply to my exact situation?
✅ Is this proper tax planning or risky tax avoidance?
✅ Do I have evidence and records to support the claim?
✅ Would HMRC accept this if they opened an enquiry?

Good tax advice should protect you — not put you at risk.

At Singletree Accountants, we help individuals and businesses get clear, practical and compliant tax advice.

HMRC & Companies House Update: Businesses Must Get Digitally Ready
HMRC and Companies House are continuing to move towards a more digital tax and filing system.
Recent updates include:
✅ HMRC consultation on making VAT and PAYE payments by Direct Debit
✅ HMRC focus on lower-value tax debts and compliance
✅ Companies House confirming software-only accounts filing from April 2028
✅ More pressure on businesses to keep records accurate, digital and up to date
For business owners, this means bookkeeping, payroll, VAT and company accounts need to be properly maintained throughout the year — not left until the deadline.

UK Political Change: What Businesses Should Focus On Now

Following the resignation of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, many business owners will naturally be asking what this could mean for the economy, tax policy, investment, and future government support.

At this stage, markets have reacted relatively calmly, but periods of political change can still bring uncertainty for businesses — especially around:

• Tax and fiscal policy
• Interest rates and borrowing costs
• Government spending priorities
• Business confidence and investment decisions
• Employment, payroll, and compliance changes

For business owners, the key message is simple: do not panic, but do prepare.

Now is a good time to review your cash flow, tax planning, budgets, and business forecasts so you can make decisions based on numbers rather than uncertainty.

At Singletree Accountants Ltd, we help businesses stay financially prepared during periods of economic and political change.

🚨 HMRC UPDATE FOR EMPLOYERS

HMRC has confirmed that the mandatory payrolling of Benefits in Kind (BiKs) has been postponed until April 2027.

While the delay provides businesses with additional preparation time, employers should not view this as a reason to wait. The move towards real-time reporting remains a significant change that will affect payroll processes across the UK.

Benefits that may be impacted include:

✔ Company Cars
✔ Private Medical Insurance
✔ Employee Benefit Schemes
✔ Other Taxable Benefits

What should employers do now?

🔹 Review current employee benefits
🔹 Assess payroll software capabilities
🔹 Ensure accurate benefit reporting processes
🔹 Prepare for the transition to real-time reporting

Businesses that start planning early are likely to experience a smoother transition and reduce the risk of compliance issues when the new rules take effect.

If you're unsure how these changes could impact your business, our team at Singletree Accountants is here to help.
