📢📢 Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax – Important Update
From 6 April 2026, Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax Self Assessment becomes mandatory for self-employed individuals and landlords with **qualifying income over £50,000
✅ Who will need to comply?
• Self-employed individuals
• Landlords
• Combined qualifying income over £50,000
📌 What will change?
✔ Keep digital business records
✔ Use HMRC-compatible software
✔ Submit quarterly updates to HMRC
✔ Submit a Final Declaration after the end of the tax year
📅 Quarterly submission deadlines
Quarter 1
🗓 6 April – 5 July
Submit by 7 August. Quarter 2 🗓 6 July – 5 October
Submit by 7 November
Quarter 3
🗓 6 October – 5 January
Submit by 7 February
Quarter 4
🗓 6 January – 5 April
Submit by 7 May
📈 Future changes
➡ From 6 April 2027– applies to qualifying income over £30,000
➡ From 6 April 2028– applies to qualifying income over £20,000
