From April 2026, HMRC is introducing Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax.

If you are self-employed or a landlord with income over £50,000 per year, you will need to:

✔ Keep digital records of your income and expenses
✔ Submit quarterly updates to HMRC
✔ Use MTD-compatible accounting software

For many people, this will be a big change from the traditional Self Assessment system.
