Most renters miss this: your largest monthly payment does nothing for your credit score unless you make it count.

1. The problem
Rent is not automatically reported to Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion.

2. The fix
Use a rent reporting service:
CreditLadder (reports to Experian)
Canopy
Rental Exchange Initiative
They track your payments and send the data to credit agencies.

3. Set it up properly
Pay via bank transfer or standing order
Use a clear payment reference
Avoid cash or irregular payments

4. Be consistent
On-time payments build your score. Missed payments damage it.

You're already paying rent. Make it work for your credit.

So do you report your rent?

A new month is coming, so this is a good time to keep your financial momentum steady.

Sometimes progress is easy to measure. Other times it feels less visible, especially when things are done quietly and consistently.

What matters is staying consistent with the systems you have set in place and continuing with them into the next month.

Keep going with what you have started.

Successful investing isn’t about doing everything.

It’s about doing the right things consistently.

These are simple principles, but they’re also the ones most people ignore.

There will always be trends and distractions, but investing rewards patience, not speed.

If you get these right, you’re already on the right path.

If the year didn’t start the way you planned financially, that’s okay.

You don’t need a new year to reset.

You can start again this week.

Saving doesn’t have to be perfect or big, it just has to be consistent.

Even small amounts, done regularly, build something over time.

Start where you are. That’s enough.

You don’t need a credit card to have a good credit score.
A strong score is built on consistency, not borrowing.

Do this instead:
1. Get on the electoral roll
2. Pay every bill on time
3. Set up direct debits
4. Keep your details stable (address, bank, etc
5. Avoid repeated credit checks on your profile in a short space of time.

Missed payments will hurt you faster than no credit card ever will.
If you can’t manage consistency, adding debt won’t fix it.
Save this and fix your foundations first.
