Figures obtained from Project Slingshot UK reveal that since 2020, UK taxpayers have paid more than £200 million to clean up bird flu outbreaks found in areas where the poultry industry was present. These figures are from the Freedom of Information Request.

As well as biosecurity and contamination concerns (contaminated boots in a staff canteen), factory farms pack in a high number of birds, which then become a risk for disease to spread and, as a result, this leads to bird flu outbreaks.

Exciting news, The Vegan Society has announced and welcomed the plans to increase vegan options including fruit, vegetables and plant-based proteins to school meals in England by 2027.

There are also plans to remove the mandatory, ‘three portions of meat per week’ law that was introduced more than 10 years ago. An outdated law that massively impacts the health of many and the environment.

They will instead be promoting more healthier plant-based options such as soya mince, tofu, and pulses etc.

We started saying no, and as a result, we reached 1 million turnover!

It’s easy to fall into the trap of quantity over quality: more customers mean more projects, and more projects mean more money, right?

Well, that isn’t always the case. We previously had clients that were energy-draining. They ignored requests, delayed payments, and pushed boundaries. This created more work for us and generated very little profit. So we did what others would probably say we are crazy for: we stopped working with those clients and started being more selective. Once we realised our problem clients were a tiny minority, the decision became easy.

Growth isn’t always about taking on more clients and more projects; it is also about removing what no longer serves the business.

Every ‘yes’ costs time; make sure it is worth it!

Why it’s important that clients don’t miss payments!

One simple calculation really changed our perspective on business: If one client doesn't pay you, how much work do you need to do to recover?

Let’s take a look at the maths!
For example, if a project fee is £100 and your profit margin is 10%, the total profit would be £10. If the client doesn’t pay, you haven’t lost £10; you’ve lost the £100 turnover. You will need 10 jobs just to replace that profit.
