A woman came to me last year and cried before we'd even properly started she was so overwhelmed by her business finances that she'd started dreading her own success. Every new client felt like more mess she couldn't handle. We didn't do anything dramatic. We just went through it, slowly, together, until the fog lifted. A few months later she messaged to say she'd slept through the night for the first time in ages. That's the part people don't realise sorting your money isn't really about money. It's about getting your peace back. πŸ’›

Here's a tiny ritual I wish someone had given me years ago: every Monday morning, before the week swallows you, spend ten minutes just looking at your money. What came in last week, what's going out this week, what's sitting in the account. That's it. No spreadsheet gymnastics, no guilt. You're not fixing anything you're just looking. The magic isn't in the maths, it's in not being surprised anymore. Ten minutes buys you a whole week of not panicking. πŸ“© DM 'MONDAY' and I'll send you my simple 10-minute check-in template.

This is your reminder that resting is not the same as slacking. Somewhere we got sold the idea that good business owners grind non-stop but exhausted people make worse decisions, not better ones. Your business does not need you at 2% battery. It needs you clear-headed, and that only comes from actually stopping sometimes. So this weekend: close the laptop, ignore the inbox, be a person. The work will still be there Monday, and you'll meet it as a better version of yourself. πŸ’› What are you doing this weekend that has nothing to do with work?

Let's talk about The Shoebox. Or the glovebox. Or that one drawer. Or the 400 photos of receipts on your phone you swear you'll 'sort out later.' If this is you welcome, you're in extremely good company. Almost every successful business owner I've met started exactly here. The mess isn't a sign you're failing; it's a sign you've been too busy actually running things to file paper. That's fixable, and honestly it's one of my favourite things to help untangle. πŸ’¬ Shoebox, spreadsheet, or full chaos tell me which one you are.

If you've ever lain awake running numbers in the dark what's coming in, what's going out, whether it'll stretch you are so much less alone than it feels in that moment. That 3am maths is one of the most common things business owners never talk about out loud. Here's what I've learned: the worry usually shrinks the second the numbers are actually written down and looked at in daylight. The unknown is heavier than the truth almost every time. πŸ’¬ Be honest does your brain do this to you too?

Somewhere along the way, a lot of us picked up the belief that we're just 'bad with money.' But here's the thing nobody actually sat us down and taught this stuff. Not at school, not at home, usually not anywhere. So if numbers make your stomach tighten, that's not a character flaw. It's a gap in information, and gaps can be filled. I've spent 20 years helping people go from avoiding their bank app to actually feeling calm about it. You're allowed to start from wherever you are. πŸ’›

The last month covered a lot: the 31 July payment on account, the 5 October registration deadline, MTD penalty points, the 18 November Companies House verification deadline, capital allowance changes, day-one sick pay, and the Business Property Relief cap. Every one of those has a date attached β€” and dates don't move because you're busy. If any of it made you think 'I should check that,' this is your reminder to actually check it. I offer a free consultation: no pressure, no jargon, just clarity on where you stand. πŸ“© DM 'CONSULT' or use the link in my bio. Let's get ahead of the next one.
