Last Thursday was one of those days that stays with you ✨

I had the privilege of being a judge for Company of the Year at Bishopshalt School 🏫

And an incredible level of confidence, creativity and ambition 🚀

Each team pitched brilliantly 🎤
Handled Q&A with real composure 💬
But what stood out most… was their belief and energy 🔥

These young entrepreneurs are already thinking about:

✔️ Profit

That’s powerful.

Huge well done to everyone involved 👏
The future is in very capable hands 🚀

🚨 Attention Landlords

Have you received a letter from HMRC about undeclared rental income or heard about the Let Property Campaign?

Many landlords go through the same journey:

1️⃣ Panic – A letter from HMRC or hearing about investigations can feel worrying.

2️⃣ Education – Understanding what the Let Property Campaign is and how it works.

3️⃣ Collating information – Gathering rental income, expenses and property records.

4️⃣ Disclosure & settlement – Calculating any tax due, including interest and potential penalties, and submitting the disclosure to HMRC.

We have helped several landlords bring their tax affairs fully up to date with HMRC through this process.

📩 If you would like a free copy of my guide explaining HMRC’s Let Property Campaign, please email me and I will be delighted to send this across.

A fantastic couple of days at the 2026 at the NEC Birmingham.

I was invited by to speak about Making Tax Digital and share the journey of our family firm,

What started as a traditional high street accountancy practice in 1989 has evolved into a digital, cloud-based firm helping clients stay proactive with their finances.

Great conversations with accountants, fintech leaders and the wider profession throughout the day.

Events like this show just how much the profession is evolving.

🎙️ Recorded my first ever podcast today.

Sat down with Derek Granger to talk about the journey of our family accountancy practice Vinod Shah & Co (Accountants), founded by my father in 1989.

What started as a small side hustle has grown into a business helping clients across multiple sectors.

We discussed the shift from traditional paperwork to cloud accounting with Xero and how technology is helping accountants move from compliance work to providing real proactive advice.

We also talked about social media, helping landlords get their tax affairs in order through HMRC’s Let Property Campaign, and the impact of Making Tax Digital coming in 2026.

And of course — the importance of looking after ourselves.

Whether it’s Derek completing the 5 Peaks Challenge or my own journey with running and training towards Hyrox discipline outside work often carries into business.

Also touched on the importance of mentors, continuous learning and building systems that allow you to grow.

Looking forward to sharing the full episode soon.

How we’ve been preparing our clients for Making Tax Digital (MTD) – April 2026

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is coming in April 2026.

From April 2026, this will apply to sole traders and landlords with income of £50,000 or more.

Worryingly, many businesses still think this is something to worry about later.

But in our practice, we’ve already started preparing our clients.

Here’s what we’ve been doing behind the scenes:

1️⃣ Moving clients onto cloud accounting software

We encourage clients to use digital tools like so their records are always up to date and accessible.

2️⃣ Encouraging regular bookkeeping

Instead of a once a year scramble, the focus on weekly/ monthly bookkeeping so records are accurate throughout the year.

3️⃣ Educating clients early

We explain what MTD actually means — quarterly updates to and a final year end declaration.

4️⃣ Improving data quality

We encourage clients to keep business bank accounts separate and provide digital copies of invoices and receipts.

5️⃣ Changing mindsets

MTD isn’t just about compliance.
It’s about helping business owners understand their numbers in real time.

The firms that prepare early will make the transition much smoother for their clients.

April 2026 may feel far away. But in reality… it’s just around the corner.

If you’re a sole trader or landlord and unsure how Making Tax Digital will affect you, now is the time to start preparing.

The real engine behind our office…

Today I want to shine a light on someone who doesn’t always seek the spotlight — my mum

Behind every set of accounts filed, every deadline met, every client supported… she has been the steady force keeping everything moving.

When my dad founded back in 1989, it wasn’t just a business venture — it was a family commitment. And my mum has been the engine of our office ever since.

From the early days on the high street…

To the transition from paper files to cloud software…

To fully embracing digital systems (and yes… she loves using Xero ! 😄)

She has adapted, supported, organised and held everything together.

What people often don’t see in family businesses is the quiet resilience:

• The long hours behind the scenes
• The emotional strength during tough periods
• The consistency when others feel overwhelmed

As we’ve modernised into a digitally-driven practice, her values have remained constant:
Integrity. Care. Hard work. Loyalty.

Everything I’ve built — including my journey into speaking, content creation and growing our brand — stands on foundations she helped create.

Mum — thank you for being the engine, the heart and the stability behind it all ❤️

Family business isn’t just about numbers.
It’s about people.

Landlords — selling your buy-to-let does NOT make undeclared rental income disappear 🚨

If you haven’t declared rental income through a Self-Assessment tax return, the solution is not to sell the property and hope the problem goes away.

You’re actually dealing with two different taxes:

• Rental Income Tax – declared each year
• Capital Gains Tax – triggered when you sell

Selling can flag your history to HMRC, not hide it.

I recently helped a client who received an HMRC letter after selling their investment property because historic rental income had never been disclosed.

HMRC receives information from:

Land Registry 🏠
Tenancy Deposit Schemes 📄
Letting Agents 🤝
Automated data-matching systems 🤖

They often know more than you think.

So what’s the right solution?
HMRC’s Let Property Campaign — a voluntary route to bring your tax affairs up to date and often reduce penalties.

If you’re a landlord and want my FREE step-by-step guide, email me and I’ll happily send it across 📩

Don’t ignore it. Fix it the right way.
