Look what arrived in the post!

A huge thank you to Amy Doughty and the lovely bots for that team for this unexpected surprise!

Our very own Georgi Rollings enjoyed sharing the stage with Amy Doughty at the Digital Accountancy Show’s AI in Accounting Theatre, brought to life by the bots for that team!

And our new little green office companion has a rather lovely meaning behind it… friendship and financial growth.

A little reminder that real, sustainable growth isn't just about the numbers on a spreadsheet (although we do love a good spreadsheet!).

It's about the people we meet, the connections we make and the relationships we nurture along the way.

That's what we love about events like Digital Accountancy Show. Sharing ideas, supporting one another, and building connections that last long after the event itself.

Fun Friday fact!

Did you know that £1 wasn’t always 100p?

Before decimalisation in 1971, £1 was divided into 20 shillings or 240 old pennies.

That means something costing £1 could have been written as 20 shillings or 240d.

Decimalisation Day was 15 February 1971, when the UK switched to the pounds and pence system we use today.

Imagine doing your bookkeeping with that system!

When Google Isn't Enough

The 10-minute weekly money check.

Once a week, put ten minutes in your diary and look at three things:

1. What's in the bank, and how much do you need to set aside for things like tax, VAT and wages?
2. Which invoices are still unpaid, and who might need a reminder?
3. Which bills are due in the next 30 days?

That's it. You don't need anything complicated.

It's a small habit that can make a big difference. You'll have a clearer picture of your finances, know what's coming up and be less likely to get caught out by unexpected cash flow pressures.

Q4 is underway. Three questions worth asking before the year ends.

With the final few months of the year ahead, now is a good time to take stock of where your business stands and what still needs your attention.

1. Where do I want my business to be by the end of the year?
2. What have I been putting off? Think outstanding invoices, paperwork, records or purchases that still need attention.
3. What's one number I want to understand better? It might be profit, cash flow or how much customers still owe.

You don't need a complicated plan. Sometimes, answering three simple questions honestly is enough to give the rest of the year a bit more direction.

Georgi, Emma and Olesia had such a brilliant day yesterday at the Digital Accountancy Show!

Georgi was up on stage as part of a speaker panel, sharing the Starfish story and reflecting on how to increase the use of AI effectively, without removing the focus on the relationships with our clients.

Such a proud moment seeing her up there in front of a room full of accountants and finance professionals.

Beyond the stage, it was lovely to see so many fantastic companies exhibiting too, including Xero , Dext and Penfold , to name just a few!

A huge thank you to the organisers for putting on such a great event!
