And just like that, the ‘ber’ months are here! 🍂

September always feels like a bit of a reset. Summer is coming to an end, routines are returning and suddenly the end of the year doesn’t feel quite so far away.

It can also be a good time to check in on the plans you made at the beginning of the year.

Perhaps you wanted to save more, get on top of your finances, start planning for a big life event or simply feel a little more organised with your money.

Whatever your goals looked like back in January, there are still four months of the year left to make progress.

And if your plans have changed along the way? That’s okay too. A good financial plan should change as life does.

Here’s to a positive final four months of 2026. 🍂

🧠 Jargon Buster: Unit Trust Feeder

It might sound technical, but the idea is actually quite simple.

A Unit Trust Feeder is an investment that can automatically move money into your ISA each tax year, making use of your annual ISA allowance without you having to remember to do it yourself.

Why is that helpful?

📈 It can help you make the most of your ISA allowance each year.
⏱️ It keeps your investments working efficiently with less administration.
📅 It can make investing feel simpler by automating part of the process.

It's just one example of how financial planning can help make the most of the allowances available to you.

As always, the right approach will depend on your individual circumstances, but understanding the jargon is a great place to start.

When people hear the words financial planning, they often think it's all about pounds and pence.

In reality, it's about something much bigger.

It's about having the freedom to make life's important decisions with confidence.

Whether that's buying your first home, starting a family, changing careers, travelling more or retiring on your own terms, a financial plan is there to support the life you want to live.

Because the real value of financial planning isn't measured by the numbers alone – it's measured by the opportunities it creates.

Some quotes stand the test of time because they capture a simple truth.

Whether you're saving for your first home, planning for retirement or working towards another life goal, having a clear plan can help turn good intentions into meaningful progress.

After all, achieving your goals isn't just about knowing where you want to go – it's about having a roadmap to help you get there.

What's one financial goal you're working towards this year?

💼 When was the last time you thought about your pension?

For many of us, it's something that's tucked away in the background. We know it's there, but we rarely stop to think about it.

The truth is, your pension is one of the biggest investments you may ever have.

That's why it's worth reviewing it from time to time.

✔ Are you contributing enough for your future goals?
✔ Have you changed jobs and left pensions behind?
✔ Does your pension still reflect your circumstances and retirement plans?

Life changes, and your financial plan should change with it.

Taking a little time to understand where you are today can help you feel more confident about tomorrow.

💡 Money Tip

A pay rise is always worth celebrating.

But before upgrading everything around you, think about putting some of that extra income towards your future instead.

Whether it's increasing your savings, topping up your pension or working towards another financial goal, small changes today can make a big difference over time.

Enjoy your success, but don't let every pay rise disappear into higher spending.

Risk tolerance is simply how comfortable you are with the possibility that the value of your investments could go up and down over time.

Everyone's risk tolerance is different. It can depend on things like your financial goals, your timescale and how you feel about market fluctuations.

For example, someone saving for retirement in 30 years' time may have a different approach to someone who needs access to their money in the near future.

Understanding your risk tolerance is an important part of building a financial plan that's right for you. It's about finding a balance that aligns with your goals and gives you confidence in your long-term plan.

After all, the best financial plan isn't necessarily the one that takes the most risk – it's the one that's right for you.

💡 Did you know?

When it comes to saving for the future, time can be just as valuable as the amount you save.

Starting earlier gives your money longer to grow, which means even small, regular contributions can make a difference over the long term.

You don't need to have a large lump sum to get started. Building good habits early can be just as important.

After all, it's not always about how much you save… it's about giving your money time to work for you.

A question worth thinking about...

If money wasn't a worry, what would you do differently?

Would you:
🏡 Move house?
✈️ Travel more?
⏰ Work fewer hours?
👨‍👩‍👧 Spend more time with family?
🎓 Learn a new skill?
❤️ Retire earlier?

For many people, financial planning isn't just about numbers. It's about creating more choices and helping you work towards the life you want to live.

Whatever your goals look like, having a plan can help turn "one day" into something you're actively working towards.

💬 We'd love to hear your answer. What would you do differently?

You've probably heard that inflation has started to ease.

So... why does your weekly shop, your energy bills or your favourite coffee still seem so expensive?

The answer is simple.

Lower inflation doesn't mean prices are falling. It means they're rising more slowly.

Think of it like driving a car.

If you slow down from 60mph to 30mph, you're still moving forwards – just not as quickly.

Inflation works in much the same way. Prices can continue to rise, but at a slower pace than before. That's why many households still feel the pressure, even when headlines suggest inflation is "coming down".

It's also why planning ahead matters.

Whether you're saving for retirement, building an emergency fund or working towards another financial goal, understanding how inflation affects your money can help you make informed decisions for the future.

Sometimes, understanding the headlines is just as important as reading them.
