🚨 Making Tax Digital is Changing the Way You File Your Tax Return 🚨
From April 2026, HMRC is rolling out Making Tax Digital (MTD) for sole traders and landlords earning over £50,000 per year (turnover, not profit).
This threshold will reduce over the following years, meaning many more people will be affected.
If you are self-employed or receive rental income, this will change how you report your income to HMRC.
MTD will require:
✅ Digital record-keeping
✅ Quarterly submissions to HMRC
✅ A year-end final declaration (replacing your current Self-Assessment return)

📢📌 A few points to note from the Autumn Budget 2024 announced yesterday:

1. Employer’s National Insurance will be increased to 15% and the threshold reduced to £5,000 from 6th April 2025.

2. Employment Allowance, which reduces National Insurance for some employers, will be increased to £10,500 from 6th April 2025.

3. Corporation Tax rate cap to be maintained at 25% and the small profits rate to be maintained at 19%.

4. National Living Wage to be increased to £12.21 per hour from April 2025.

5. Both rates of Capital Gains Tax will be increased from 30 October 2024.

6. Business rates relief for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses in England will be reduced from 75% to 40% from 6th April 2025.

7. Fuel Duty remains frozen for another year.

8. Increased Stamp Duty for Second Homes.
