In case you missed it! Here is everything you need to know about the Chalk & Change Award.

We've had some great responses since we announced it, so we wanted to lay it all out clearly in one place.

The award is open to anyone in Thanet aged 25 and under with an idea for a community enterprise, local initiative or business idea.

You don't need a polished business plan, just a genuine idea and a short proposal covering what it is, who it helps, what you'd need, and how you'd know if it worked.

The winner gets £500. But every single applicant gets personal written feedback from a finance professional because we want the process to be worth something for everyone who takes part, not just the person who wins.

The reasoning for us? Thanet has the highest youth unemployment in the south-east. This is our small but concrete response to that.

Applications open September 2026. Get thinking!

Getting things in order?

How do my loved ones know who to call?

If you’re worried about how your loved ones will know what to do once you go, there’s a free resource offer, a document you can complete that tells your loved ones everything you need to know. We suggest leaving this with your Will to take some of the stress away from your executors. Visit their page and website to find the download for their ‘lifebook’.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we have to let you know that our adorable office dog Freddie recently passed away.

Anyone who’s been to the office in the last 5 years would have heard his input on finance and the general state of the world.

The office will not be the same without you boy. Miss you.

The meeting room.

Over the last 2 years from when we first signed the purchase paperwork I’ve worked tirelessly to ensure this office shows who we are perfectly.

Everything had to be functional, it had to be perfect.

From the tables I made by hand with dents and scratches and imperfections a plenty but the perfect size and shape, to the moss walls that help insulate and sound proof, to the stick my son gave me as a new office present. Everything about this office has my personality in it.

It’s been an absolute headache at times and I can’t look at a hand tool again for a while but my god am I proud of the final outcome.

Ethical investing isn’t just about feeling good - it’s about avoiding unnecessary risk.

Companies tied to contentious sectors often face scandals, fines and sudden market shocks.

By steering clear of these, you’re not only aligning with your values, you’re building a portfolio that’s more resilient and less volatile.

Morals + Performance = Smart

Swipe for the before!

January tends to be a quieter month in our office, and my wife has been gently encouraging me to use that downtime more intentionally.

This morning, I finally took her advice and spent it creating this moss wall in the bar area of our meeting room, helping bring the space more in line with the rest of the office. It also features a stick my son gave me three years ago “for the new office” — which has finally found its rightful place.

Financial services can be a stifling industry at times, and it’s easy to fall into routine. I’m fortunate to have a corner of it filled with creativity, perspective, and the kind of encouragement that stops that from happening.

P.S. Any recommendations for interesting non‑alcoholic drinks we can keep in the fridge? I don’t drink, but good refreshments are always welcome.
