Great to attend the Derbyshire Business Networking event this evening at Great Northern Classics.

A fantastic venue, especially for car enthusiasts, with an impressive collection providing a really interesting backdrop for the evening.

It was great to catch up with some familiar faces and, just as importantly, meet new people from across the local business community. These events are always a good reminder of the strength and connectivity of businesses in and around Derby.

Although I have to say… I couldn’t quite decide which car was the one for me 🚗

Great to spend the morning at Derbyshire County Cricket Club for Marketing Derby’s latest bondholder event.

It was a lovely setting to catch up with contacts and meet new people from across Derby and the wider region, always valuable to step away from the desk and have those conversations face to face.

A nice touch to watch some of the players training whilst we were there, not a bad backdrop for a networking breakfast.

I attended with Francesca from PKF Smith Cooper (who also managed to get a photo with Freddie the Falcon 🦅), adding a bit of fun to the morning!

Thank you to the organisers and hosts for a very well put together event and great to see such a strong business community in and around Derby.

Great to attend the inaugural Gala Dinner last night in support of Bridge the Gap.

It was a fantastic evening hosted by Baasit Siddiqui, who kept the energy high while ensuring the importance of the cause remained front of mind. We also heard from Nigel Owens, whose insights and humour made for a memorable speech, along with an impressive performance from Sean Heydon.

I attended with colleagues from PKF Smith Cooper, alongside guests Nilima from Evolve and Martyn from Flint Bishop, great company throughout the evening.

Most importantly, the event raised an incredible £34,500 for charity, which is a fantastic achievement and a real testament to everyone involved.

Events like this are a great reminder of the impact our professional community can have when we come together, not just in business, but in supporting wider causes.

A very enjoyable evening all round.

Debt Awareness Week | 16–20 March

Debt issues are rarely sudden, they develop over time, often hidden behind continued trading, delayed decisions, and increasing pressure on cashflow.

During Debt Awareness Week, it’s a timely reminder of the importance of early, informed intervention.

In my experience, the best outcomes are achieved where clients are supported before positions become critical, when there is still a full range of options available.

These can include:

• Financial restructuring and turnaround strategies
• Time to Pay arrangements with HMRC
• Informal negotiations with creditors
• Refinancing or operational changes
• Formal insolvency processes where appropriate

Insolvency is just one tool,not the default solution.

For accountants, lenders, solicitors and other advisers, having a trusted insolvency specialist involved early can make a significant difference to both client outcomes and risk management.

My approach has always been to provide clear, pragmatic and balanced advice, focused on achieving the best result for all stakeholders, not simply progressing to an appointment.

Debt Awareness Week | 16–20 March

Debt rarely starts as a crisis.
It builds quietly, a missed payment here, a tough month there… until it begins to feel overwhelming.

As a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner, I speak to individuals and business owners every day who feel like they’ve run out of road. But in many cases, there are still choices available, and the earlier you explore them, the more control you keep.

• Or, where needed, formal insolvency solutions

Insolvency is not the only answer, and it’s not always the right one.

Time flies when you’re having fun…

I can’t believe it’s already been just over a week since we headed to Ashbourne’s famous Shrovetide celebrations — and what a fantastic day it was.

From breakfast with a twist (an Indian feast or pancakes — it was Pancake Day after all 🥞) to plenty of Guinness and great conversation, it was truly a day to remember.

Wonderful guests, brilliant company, and a very special experience being part of such an iconic English tradition.

For those who couldn’t make it this year… there’s always next year 😉

For anyone unfamiliar, the Royal Shrovetide Football match is one of England’s oldest and most unique traditions, dating back centuries. The entire town becomes the pitch, and play continues across streets, fields, and even the river.

A remarkable mix of history, community, chaos, and celebration — and a real privilege to witness.

The 3rd and final post reflecting back…

As I begin to close the chapter on LM Insolvency, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the achievements that meant so much to me over the last 13 years.

LM Insolvency was a boutique practice, run as a sole Insolvency Practitioner, yet it went on to receive national recognition alongside some of the largest and most established organisations in the profession.

I am incredibly proud that:

▪️ Second Place – Boutique Insolvency Firm of the Year (TRI Awards 2020)
▪️ Highly Commended & Second Place – Boutique Insolvency Firm of the Year (2019)
▪️ Finalist – Debt Solution Provider of the Year (TRI Awards 2019 & 2020)
▪️ Finalist – Debt Advice Provider of the Year (CCS Awards 2019)
▪️ Finalist – Woman of the Year (Credit Awards 2019)

These awards are judged by industry peers, regulators and specialists, and to be recognised in this way as a small, independent practice competing against Big Four firms, universities and national providers has been hugely humbling.

I’ve always taken immense pride in the quality of service, technical expertise, and empathetic approach provided to clients — and these awards felt like meaningful validation of that ethos.

As I move into my next chapter with PKF Smith Cooper, I carry these values, standards, and experiences with me. I’m excited to continue supporting clients, now with the strength of a larger firm behind me, while keeping the same personal, human approach at the heart of everything I do.
