HMRC has updated its mileage allowance rates for 2026/27.

From 6 April 2026, the approved rate for employees using their own car or van for business journeys increases to 55p per mile for the first 10,000 miles.

If you reimburse business mileage, now is the time to check your payroll, expenses process and bookkeeping records are up to date.

We’re delighted that Claire will be joining AAT and CIMA for a collaborative event on 11 July at Strawberry Fields, Lifton.

Set on a working farm, this event will bring together expert insight on the key challenges and opportunities facing agricultural and rural businesses today including a focused session on inheritance tax.

Kate Bell will be discussing current trends in the agricultural sector, with practical guidance on management accounting for farming businesses, as well as updates on income tax and the impact of environmental changes and government policy.

Claire Forth will be covering recent and forthcoming changes to inheritance tax legislation, looking at how these developments affect SME owner-managed businesses, particularly within the farming and agricultural space.

A valuable day for those looking to stay informed and plan ahead with confidence.

It’s the bank holiday weekend and half term and we’ve got our fingers crossed for the heat wave that’s on it way.

Some of the team are taking a well-earned break to relax and enjoy time with their families — whether that’s making the most of the Cornish coast and countryside or, in Claire’s case, enjoying some time in France!

What are your plans for the long weekend?

Our blog explores:
• The different types of trusts
• Trustee responsibilities
• Tax implications including IHT, CGT and income tax
