You might have seen the news yesterday about the state pension age potentially rising to 68 sooner than expected, and wondered if that affects you 🤔

Here's the quick version:

✅ The state pension age is already rising to 67 (complete by April 2028)
✅ The government is now reviewing plans to bring the increase to 68 forward to the late 2030s
✅ That could affect millions of people currently in their 40s and 50s
✅ And don't forget - from April 2028, you won't be able to access your private pension until 57 (up from 55)

First up in our carbon credits series: the Burkina Faso Safe Water Project 💧🌍

This Gold Standard project helps communities access safe drinking water, reducing the need to boil water using wood or other fuels. That means lower emissions, healthier families, and less pressure on local forests.

It also has a powerful social impact. In many communities, collecting water and treating it at home falls to women and girls. Safe water access can ease that burden and free up time for education, work and family life.

This project supports four UN Sustainable Development Goals:
✅ Good Health and Well-being
✅ Gender Equality
✅ Clean Water and Sanitation
✅ Climate Action

New research from Tesco Bank shows how common it is to dip into savings. Even though 64% of people have a savings goal, 60% admitted using their savings for other reasons.

Many withdrawals were for essential costs like emergencies or bills, but one in five used their savings for things like meals out or new clothes. It’s completely normal- life happens - but it can make long‑term plans harder to reach.

The research also found that saving small amounts regularly can help people feel more in control of their financial wellbeing. And with lots of savings options available, from easy‑access accounts to fixed‑rate bonds, there are ways to structure your savings so they support your goals.

New government figures show that upcoming changes to salary sacrifice could lead to millions of workers cutting back on pension contributions.

From April 2029, there'll be a £2,000 cap on salary sacrifice pension contributions, and nearly 1 in 4 of those affected are basic rate taxpayers.

Former Pensions Minister Steve Webb said it's "hardly joined-up government" to push for more pension saving while introducing a policy that could have the opposite effect.
