🔑 Big news from the Wye Valley Accountants team!

Today Lauren picked up the keys to our brand new office on Monnow Street, right in the heart of Monmouth. Eagle-eyed locals might spot a familiar neighbour in the background of the photo… Any guesses where we are? 👀

The new space will be home to the team on office days, and it also comes with a fabulous meeting room where clients can pop in for a cuppa and a proper catch-up.

There's a bit of work to do before we are able to move in properly, so keep an eye out for updates as it all comes together.

👋 Gareth is our Payroll Manager (we share him between two accountancy practices), and when it comes to payroll - there's very little he doesn't know.

With over 15 years of experience in accountancy - starting out in bookkeeping before finding his true calling in payroll - Gareth runs a tight ship and takes full ownership of the entire payroll process, from weekly, fortnightly and monthly runs through to P11Ds and CIS returns.

He's incredibly organised, endlessly patient, and always contactable, whether that's a phone call or a quick WhatsApp message. His passion for payroll runs so deep that he even writes his own blog, "The UK Payroll Guy" - so you can be confident your payroll is in genuinely expert hands.

If you've recently received one of these through your letterbox - welcome to the team! We're absolutely buzzing to be welcoming a whole host of new clients on board here at Wye Valley Accountants, and we cannot wait to get stuck in.

New rules, new software, new jargon - it's enough to keep anyone up at night.

But, here are some quotes from a few of Lauren's discovery calls with new clients this week, after they planned what they would do about MTD:

Kimberley is our Client Bookkeeper and a self-confessed Xero enthusiast - if there's a way to make your books run smoother, she'll find it.

She started out in accountancy back in 2009 as an accounts assistant, going on to gain her AAT Level 3 qualification, before realising that bookkeeping was where her heart truly lay.

There's nothing Kimberley loves more than getting stuck into a set of messy records and turning them into something clear and organised 🌟

She's a brilliant communicator too, always happy to pick up the phone for a chat, and her clients appreciate having someone so approachable looking after their day-to-day finances.

Having Kimberley on the team means our clients' books are always in safe, capable hands.

☀️ The school gates are about to close for summer and Monmouth is buzzing with holiday excitement!

While everyone's off enjoying well-earned breaks (and hopefully some of this glorious sunshine), summer is actually one of our favourite times of year here at Wye Valley Accountants. Things quieten down a little, which gives us the perfect chance to get ahead for you.

It's a hard life having your accounts meeting in a pub garden in the sunshine, but someone has to do it ☀️

Lauren spent the afternoon catching up with one of our longest-standing clients (they worked out that it's been about 17-18 years) - swapping last year's records for this year's, all delivered in true Wye Valley Accountants style. A few hours, plenty of sunshine, and a proper catch-up later, and we're reminded why we love what we do.

It's not just about the numbers - it's the relationships that come with them 💚

When Sarah and Lauren decided to work together again, THIS is what happens - a Friday afternoon at the Celtic Manor, dressed up in their glad rags and sipping Laurent-Perrier in the Ch*****ne Garden. ☀️🍾

As Director of Wye Valley Accountants, Lauren brings over two decades of experience to the table - but don't let that fool you into expecting buttoned-up formality. She's the kind of accountant who actually loves a good chat, and her clients will tell you she has a genuine knack for making even the trickiest financial topics feel manageable.

Lauren began her accountancy career in 2005 at a four-partner practice in Norwich and in 2008, she made the move to Wales - a decision she's never looked back on. In 2013, she achieved her ACCA qualification, cementing the expertise she'd been building for years.

Over time, Lauren developed a real niche working with dental practices, understanding the unique financial pressures and opportunities that come with running a dental business.
