January may still seem a long way off... but somehow 31 January has a habit of arriving much faster than expected. 😉

You may need to complete a Self Assessment if, during the 2025/26 tax year, you were:
• self-employed
• receiving rental income
• receiving foreign income
• receiving dividends or interest
• selling property or other assets
• receiving other untaxed income

Important notice for Uber drivers regarding 2025/26 tax returns.

Please do NOT rely solely on Uber annual tax summaries when preparing Self Assessment returns.

We have identified multiple cases where figures shown on annual summaries differed from payout records and/or business records.

Before submitting your tax return, ensure proper reconciliation of:

Uber reports,
bank statements,
payouts,
bonuses/incentives,
and business records.

Under UK tax rules, the taxpayer remains responsible for ensuring that all income declared to HMRC is complete and accurate.

📢 New HMRC Regulations – MTD for Income Tax from the 2026/27 Tax Year

The upcoming 2026/27 tax year brings significant changes to how income is reported in the UK. The Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD ITSA) programme, introduced by HM Revenue & Customs, will become mandatory for many individuals with business or property income.

🔍 What’s changing?
• mandatory digital record-keeping of income and expenses
• quarterly submissions to HMRC
• a year-end Final Declaration

📅 When does it start?
From 6 April 2026 for individuals with income over £50,000 (from self-employment and/or property).

⚠️ Why act now?
