A huge thank you to Claire for once again organising our Macmillan Coffee Morning at Bright Brown, and to everyone who baked, donated and helped make it a success.

Together, we raised £185, which our directors doubled to £370 in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

A brilliant team effort for a charity that means so much to so many. Thank you to everyone involved!

We were recently so very delighted to celebrate Karen’s 30th anniversary at Bright Brown.

As our longest-serving employee, Karen has been an important part of the Bright Brown team for three decades and remains a hugely valued member of staff.

Thirty years is an incredible milestone, and we would like to thank Karen for her continued dedication, hard work and loyalty.

Bright Brown is very happy to support The Parenting Network - Isle of Wight and the valuable work it does for families across the Isle of Wight.

Bright Brown are proud to have been able to offer sponsorship for this year’s Charity Fire Engine Pull in support of the Wight Brainy Bunch.

The event brought a fantastic crowd to Newport Quay, with teams taking on the challenge while supporters enjoyed live music and entertainment.

Most importantly, the day raised just over £5,000 to help The Wight Brainy Bunch continue providing practical, emotional and financial support to local people affected by brain tumours and their families.

As a local business, we are always pleased to support events that bring our community together and make a genuine difference across the Isle of Wight.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making the day such a success. We were incredibly proud to play a part.

Companies House filing changes are coming.

From 1 April 2028, all UK companies must file their accounts digitally using commercial software; paper and web-based filing will be phased out. Small companies and micro-entities will also be required to file profit and loss information, although they are expected to have the option to keep this information from public publication. Abridged accounts will also come to an end, so businesses should start preparing ahead of the changes.

At Bright Brown, we’ll continue to keep clients informed as further guidance is released.

Bright Brown is proud to support a fantastic fundraising challenge in aid of CALM.

A group from the Isle of Wight recently completed their mission to travel on every UK chain ferry, raising awareness and funds for an important cause. The team completed the challenge in 23 hours, 56 minutes and 56 seconds in memory of their friend, Daniel, who passed away in 2019.

We were pleased to make a donation and support their efforts. A huge well done to everyone involved on completing such a unique and worthwhile challenge.

Congratulations to Emma from our bookkeeping team, who has recently completed the May 50K in aid of Multiple Sclerosis.

Throughout May, Emma ran an impressive 50km to raise money for a cause very close to her heart. Her determination and commitment have helped raise almost £600 for this fantastic cause.

Bright Brown were pleased to support Emma by matching donations made by our team, and we’re incredibly proud of what she has achieved.

Well done, Emma! A brilliant effort for a very worthy cause.

What is the Great British Summer Savings Scheme?

From 25th June to 1st September 2026, the Government is introducing a temporary VAT reduction on a range of family-focused activities and services, reducing VAT from 20% to 5%.

Eligible activities include:

✔️ Children's meals in restaurants
✔️ Family and children's cinema tickets
✔️ Theatre, exhibition and concert tickets
✔️ Theme parks, zoos, museums and soft play centres
✔️ Adventure and leisure attractions for families

For many households, these changes could help reduce the cost of summer entertainment and family outings during the school holidays.

At Bright Brown, we believe staying informed about financial changes can help you make smarter decisions with your money.

Summer days out could be getting a little more affordable.

The Government has announced a temporary VAT reduction from 20% to 5% on selected family activities between 25th June and 1st September 2026. This includes children's meals in restaurants, family cinema tickets, theatre trips, zoos, museums, theme parks, soft play centres and more.

For families looking to make memories without stretching the budget, this could mean more opportunities to enjoy quality time together throughout the school holidays.

It's always worth checking with individual venues and businesses to see how they are applying the savings.
