I have received nearly a dozen calls today from an automatic dialler. There were a number of options to establish they had reached their intended victim. I intentionally answered the questions incorrectly and eventually got to speak with a real person to whom I asserted that he was attempting to commit fraud and empty accounts. He did not deny the fact but did insist that he was calling from Santander. He wanted to 'go through a few transactions' of a bank account and sounded unflustered and sadly professional. Suffice to say he got nothing apart from a hard time & a referral to Santander's fraud department. The telephone numbers recorded on my phone were 08082 800701 & 08082 802568.
If you get any calls from any number claiming to be a bank it is almost certainly a 'phishing' attempt. Always call the number on the back of your bank card should you be worried. These people are quite clever and often know such things as your year of birth or postcode. They are hoping to be furnished with missing information to enable the raiding of your account. Simply put the phone down but expect them to keep trying for a while as they hope to wear you down by creating anxiety. I do not recommend giving them a hard time as I have done. I just wanted to do a bit of research.

Job Specification

Compliance Administrator required for a friendly team of Independent Financial Advisers based in Perranporth.
Basis: Full time
Hours: 9-5pm Monday - Friday
Rate of pay: National Living Wage
Start date: February 2022
Closing date for Applications: Friday 11th February 2022

The role:

You will be responsible for many duties involved in the smooth day to day running of the group principal office. Working as an integral part of the team, supporting the Firm’s Principal and the compliance team with in-house compliance and monitoring, in addition to some general administration tasks.

Part of the initial training will take place in our St Austell office, and there may be the occasional day working there if required to support our compliance team leader.

The successful applicant will be required to study towards and complete the Chartered Insurance Institute RO1 – Financial Services. Regulation and Ethics qualification, or equivalent through another professional body recognised by the financial regulator, the FCA.

Duties will include:

Checking adviser files for Chronology & and saving them onto the IT systems.
Maintaining accurate and up to date records
Answering telephones
Greeting customers
Supporting our Advisers & dealing with Providers
Arranging meetings
Filing
Manning the office
Managing Communications
Stationery monitoring
Data entry
Providing IT support.

Essential Qualities:

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including word and excel.
Good telephone manner & communication skills
Accurate & efficient
Reliable and punctual.
Have the initiative and motivation to work on own initiative, as well as part of a team.
A ‘can do’ attitude.
To be in a position to confirm 'Fitness & Propriety' under the Financial Regulator's rules.

Desirable qualities but not essential as training will be provided:
Book-keeping knowledge.
An understanding of the Regulated Financial Services environment.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have appropriate qualifications in both English & Mathematics.

- Always have control of your cryptocurrency wallet. If you didn't set the wallet up yourself or can't access the money in the wallet, this is a scam. You should stop making payments immediately.

- Many cryptocurrency sellers are not registered with the UK Financial Conduct Authority. Always use a firm that is on the Registered FCA list which can be found on the FCA website. You should also check the Temporarily Registered list which can be found on the same page.

- If you ignore the above advice you could lose all of your money.
