Social media often shows the wins, but behind every business there are challenges that aren’t always visible and we do not like talking about it.. DO WE!! 🤐

The biggest mistake many business owners make is waiting until they’re struggling before asking for help.

Whether it’s putting money aside for tax, chasing unpaid invoices, reviewing your pricing or getting advice on cash flow. Taking action early can prevent much bigger problems later.

Also remember… Look after yourself, ask for help when you need it, and don’t feel like you have to carry everything alone 🫶

I’m out of office for a few days after today.

This week I’m swapping spreadsheets for sea views in one of my favourite places, Dorset 🌊 🐚

I’m taking a few days away with my family to enjoy some quality time together and celebrate a business milestone that’s made me stop and reflect on how far my business has come in the last 6 years 🍾

To all of my clients, thank you. Your support, recommendations, and trust mean more than you know 🤍

I’m looking forward to a few days of coastline, good food, and family time before returning next week.

It’s easy to get caught up in the day to day of running a business. Especially when juggling an already busy home life.

Deadlines, emails, cash flow, clients… before you know it, sometimes it can feel like you’re just ticking off the next job on the list.

It’s worth reminding yourself why you started in the first place.

Often the first 2 that spring to mind.. but what about also…

🌞 Maybe it was to create a better future for your family.
🌞 To give you the flexibility YOUR life needs, not someone else.
🌞 Maybe you simply want to build something that was yours or all of the above?
🌞 Knowing your children are watching you try and succeed, and knowing that this too will impact their future by showing what a little bit of self belief and (lots of) hard work can achieve?

A personal one for me, as well as the above is to work alongside amazing business owners. My clients seriously inspire me every day 🤘😎 🫶

Whatever your reason, don’t let the day to day make you lose sight of it.

The numbers are important and they always will be, but they’re only part of the picture.

Running a business is hard and challenging in every way.
Late nights, weekends working, non-stop thinking about it at times, problems that arise that only you can fix and must fix, making sure everyone is happy and that you’re heading in the right direction.
Sometimes the 9-5 can feel appealing once again tbh…but only sometimes! ☺️

Remembering that I get to work with amazing people. Creating a business back in 2020 after years working for companies. Having a positive impact on local business owners whether starting out or growing. Building something to be proud of that works for my clients and my life is an indescribable kind of happiness.

A successful business isn’t just one that grows. It’s one that helps you build the life you wanted when you took that leap in the first place.

Are you watching your business profit and growth in the best way?

One of the biggest changes I see in successful business owners is when they stop focusing on turnover and worrying about lowering tax and start focusing on profit and growing!

It’s easy to get caught up chasing bigger sales and more customers, but growth doesn’t always mean more money in your pocket.
More work often brings more costs, and if you’re not watching your profit and just worrying about tax, you can end up both working harder for less and holding yourself back.

I also see a lot of businesses spending money purely to reduce their tax bill.
Good tax planning is important, but spending £1 to save 19p or 25p in tax rarely makes sense.
Profit isn’t the enemy. It gives you options, allowing you to invest in better systems, outsource where needed, employ when the numbers stack up and build a stronger business for the future 🥳

The businesses that grow well aren’t always the ones with the biggest turnover. They’re usually the ones that know their numbers and keep a close eye on their profit.

HMRC mileage rates have increased and is backdated April 2026. 🚗

The approved rate for cars and vans is now:

✅ 55p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles
✅ 25p per mile after 10,000 miles

HMRC has opened a consultation, ending on the 10th June 2026 on proposals that could require more detailed reporting of payments, loans and transactions between limited companies and directors/shareholders.

Bloody unfair right? 🤦🏼‍♀️ You take the risk, work long hours, carry the stress of running a business.
Now you face the possibility of even MORE monitoring, admin and scrutiny on how you access money from your own company.

🗓️ CONSULTATION WINDOW

The consultation runs from 19 March 2026 to 10 June 2026.

Business owners, accountants and advisers should respond before any rules are finalised.

🐣 Happy Easter! 🌼

Wishing all of our clients and followers a lovely Easter break.Hopefully filled with good food, family time, and a well deserved rest 😌

Just a quick note to say I’ll be away from Monday to Thursday, enjoying a little break. I’ll pick up all messages as soon as I’m back.

I’ll be returning refreshed for the start of the new tax year, and will be getting straight into 2025/26 tax returns, so if you like to be organised and get ahead early, now’s a great time to start thinking about yours.
