Women are now more likely than men to seek professional financial advice, according to recent research from Continuum.

The research found that 20% of women surveyed said they are likely to seek advice from an independent financial adviser, compared to 19% of men.

Erin Rigault, Independent Financial Adviser at Continuum, said: "I have found in my own experience that female clients enjoy the process of ‘working things out' through conversation with a trusted financial adviser, and find it reassuring to collaborate rather than working alone without a sounding board."

The research also highlighted that trust, credibility and personalised service remain among the most important factors women look for when choosing an adviser.

Continuum has appointed pensions and tax specialist Ian Blanchford as an Independent Financial Adviser.

He has joined Continuum in Devon where he was running his own Crediton-based firm.

Continuum said Blanchford shared its philosophy that “financial planning should be accessible, transparent and built around long-term relationships”.
