🏦 Bank of England – 17 September

The next Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting takes place this Thursday, 17 September.

The current Bank Rate is 3.75%, following the decision to hold rates at the Bank’s previous meeting in July.

So, what are we expecting this time?

📌 Current market expectations are largely pointing towards Bank Rate remaining at 3.75%, although the final decision will be announced by the MPC on Thursday.

The Bank of England has highlighted that inflation remains above its 2% target and that higher energy prices could put further upward pressure on inflation during the second half of 2026.

For mortgage borrowers, it's worth remembering that Bank Rate and mortgage rates aren't the same thing. Fixed mortgage rates are influenced by wider financial markets and lender pricing, so they don't necessarily move immediately or by the same amount as Bank Rate.

We'll see what Thursday brings 👀
