𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝘅 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 (𝗠𝗧𝗗) 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲!

We had 10 clients in our first group, so we've now been through the whole process – signing up, ID checks, linking software to HMRC and, of course, those first quarterly submissions.

And we weren't alone! 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟰𝟯𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗠𝗥𝗖 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿. 😲

Were there a few teething problems? Of course! 😅 But actually, it all went pretty smoothly. HMRC struggled to answer some of our questions at times… we're all learning together!!!

What we've really loved is how positive our clients have been about the change.

For some, it's been a completely different way of doing their bookkeeping. Instead of the annual spreadsheet marathon, trying to remember what happened months ago and hunting for missing information, they're using software and keeping things up to date as they go.

And they're seeing the benefits.

💷 They know how the business is doing
🧮 They have a much better idea of what their tax bill is likely to look like

We've learnt a lot too. We know where the little bumps in the road are and feel much better equipped to help clients through them – guiding, explaining and holding hands where needed!

And now we're turning our attention to the 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗧𝗗... 🚀

As we complete 2025/26 personal tax returns, we're already starting conversations with clients who will be brought into MTD next April.

We're talking about what the change will mean for them, which software will work best and what we can start doing now to make the transition easier.

The big lesson from our first group? 𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 ⏰

Starting early gives people time to get used to the software, change their bookkeeping habits and ask plenty of questions along the way. 💬

Much better to arrive at next April feeling 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 than facing a last-minute scramble! 💪
